Taking a page out of [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2's book...

I've actually wanted to do this for a while, but now that [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2 has done it, I can be a lemming instead :)

While my flist is not ginormous, it's pretty big and I don't get to talk to half as many people as I would like. Most of the time it's because I'm really bogged down with RL stuff, but sometimes it's because I don't know you very well and I'm a little too shy to just start posting whatever all over your space.

I also wonder, like [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2 whether people are just here for fic or basic fandom and don't want to move into a "friendship" or if there are people on my flist that really would like to chat? If you're just here for fic, that's cool. I have no problem with that, though I don't write as much as I used to. But if you're looking for more and I haven't been talking to you much, I'd love to know. Actually, I enjoy meeting new people and talking about a range of things, so if I know you're open to various discussions, then I'll be more inclined to do so if I know that I'm not bugging you.

Also, the nature of fandoms are ever changing. We move onto to new stuff, we hold onto the old, and we develop new opinions and interests. Maybe some of you are here because you feel bad about defriending. Maybe some of you don't know me very well and are too shy. Maybe some of you are new and we haven't really had a chance to talk yet.

I ask because I go through the same thing. Sometimes I wonder if I should comment or not. And there are some people I've drifted away from fannishly. I wonder if people would feel weird if I started engaging them in a more personal or friendly manner or if people would rather keep it "strictly professional." And if I feel that way, I'm sure others do as well.

So in this post, please feel free to reintroduce yourself. Feel free to tell me to please go away or to talk more or to post on your LJs. Really. Or if you feel the need to take me off your flist, no hard feelings. (Unless I've like known you for a long time and we've talked alot, then *sniff* but I know people change.)

Or just go about your own business.

I just like to talk is all ;)

After awhile it just blurs...

No, I have no desire to unfriend you. I know I haven't been commenting much, though :( But I do read your posts :)

And yay! SPN awaits you whenever the time comes :)

Oh man. Your icon is so so pretty.

Well, I can at least speak for my LJ. You're always free to comment. I don't mind whether you agree with me or not. I do enjoy conversation. And if you ever post on your LJ, I'll read it and do my best to comment back.

Spongebob placemats *giggles* I love that ep :)

I've read all your posts but I don' comment very often. it might be because I don't know you very well. At the same time, how does one get to know a person if she never says anything? Duh. *smacks head*

Me, I love the whole experience. Fandom inside out. So feel free to talk more and I'll do the same.

And I am looking forward to seeing how your thesis draft comes out! I would be more than happy to look at it. I'm sorry I haven't been able to provide anything thus far on it. Apparently, I am very good at packing away and never ever seeing my stuff again...

LJ is great. You can surround yourself with people of like mind or you can have a variety. There are comms. You can post scans and fics and art. You can lock entries or go public. I just love how much control you have over your settings.

Superman is the glue that holds the world together, is he not? ;) I enjoy your comics-related posts very much!

And thanks! It's good to know. I'll try to be a bit more active :)

You are a trendsetter!

So now we know we can both pop by and say hello anytime!

And you can hold my hand as I finish up FS S4 and hit the PKW miniseries. Ack!

And Teal'c fic! Remember the Teal'c fic!

I am like the Wal-Mart greeter of this corner of fandom, I swear.

You are one of the nseaky people I NEVER remember who is who on AIM. Drives me batty. I need to post a cheat sheet on my computer or something.

Cliche girl! *points and laughs* Yeah. I tried. They don't click for me. But it's not as annoying as other shows. That's probably because the cats is so big and I don't have to deal with it every episode.

Stranger you say? Hmm.

Cool. And indeed. That is the nature of fandom. We jump back and forth, and go with the flow of fandom.

Thanks for the input :) I hope you're enjoying your TMNT. I always loved Leonardo the best :)

Family is our source of support, rather than LJ.

This is awesome. I am so glad you have that outlet :)

I'm trying to comment more, so I want to taregt the people that actually are welcoming to it. Sometimes people are more lurker oriented and there is nothing wrong with that.

Thanks!

Because they put little things at the bottom of the screen throughout the episode. Kinda like that old "Pop-Up Video" from VH-1. Sometimes it's just reminders of things about the story arc. "The song Charlie is humming is his one hit wonder." Or "These numbers have been shown throughout the series in blah blah."

Sometimes there's been behind the scenes mentions. Like how they're really standing on this beach in Oahu or something. Just little trivia things, nothing spectacular.

Later, I wondered if that comment sounded bad... I guess a lot of people find it cathartic to talk about problems on LJ, but I've always felt a bit strange about it.

To tell the truth, my life is pretty good, so maybe my view is skewed.

I never mind reading someone else's venting, though. :)

And I am definitely welcoming of it! I adore comments.

LJ Training? Maybe you should copyright that ;)

And if you do venture back from the unknown and start commenting I will be sure to pay more attention. It's just you vanish for so long! I just imagine you are off on these amazing adventures ;)

hehe You know I'm not here for the fic, right? *g* You're welcome to comment on my LJ any time, of course. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I've always considered you a beyond-fandom friend.

I have you on my flist because I like you and we've known each other a long time (in internet land *g*), and I like to keep up with what you're doing or not doing or whatever is going on. I almost always read all of your posts even if it's about a fandom I don't know and always the personal posts as well.

The only posts I probably don't usually read are the fic, even though I love your writing. It's just that I don't read fic all that often (and I've long since moved on from reading most Stargate fic), and I'm pretty specific about what I want to read when it comes to fic--and it's not always good stories (which yours are), but whatever strikes my fancy in that moment--sometimes things that you would probably consider to be bad!fic. *g* It's really whatever strikes my mood in that exact moment, but mostly I'm not reading fic in any fandom right now.

I also sometimes don't read posts that contain spoilers for an episode I haven't seen yet, if it's a show I'm currently watching or intend to watch, like Farscape. I was so tempted to read your Farscape posts, but for some reason I don't want to be spoiled too much for that show.

Other than that, I read everything else. I don't always comment, but many times I write a comment and then don't post it. *g* Does that count? hehe I probably still comment a lot, though.

I started off being in this for the fic, but I also enjoy fannish discussions and the occasional RL-issues conversations. I find myself playing the stereotypical bartender to a lot of people, for some reason. But yes, fandom is fun and now I'm rambling. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I like to talk too, even though I'm not around during "normal" hours a lot. (I'm sleeping or at work most of the day, and then up most of the night. It gets lonely sometimes.)
