I wrote comment fic last night for [livejournal.com profile] linnet_101 based on her comment: It's hard to imagine anything topping star wars for Teal'c, I'd imagine he'd be the type of person who passionately hated The Phantom Menace, but bought all the DVD sets just the same :D

----------------------------------------

Jack opened the door to his house and made his way over to the living room, not at all surprised that Carter, Teal'c and Daniel were sprawled out all over his furniture. He'd told them to make themselves at home, but damn. But truth be told, he didn't really care. This was going to be their last get together in this place before he moved onto greener pastures, so...at least they hadn't busted into his stash of beer.

"I got it," he said, holding up the rental.

"What movie did you pick out, sir?" Carter asked.

Jack held up the case proudly. He never saw his old team's faces fall so fast.

"What?" he asked.

"That movie has been out for ages," Carter said.

"And your point? It's not for you. It's for Teal'c."

Teal'c turned his head. "I will not watch."

"What?" Jack looked at the box and then to Teal'c. "I thought you loved this stuff?"

Teal'c's jaw twitched, and he stood. "This movie is not Star Wars."

Jack frowned and glanced down at the box. "It says Star --"

"It is not." His eyes narrowed.

Jack blinked. Okay then. Well, there just went a few bucks on some Phantom Menace flick.

"I told you," Daniel muttered.

"Told me what?"

"Sir, there's a difference between the original trilogy and the prequels," Carter said. "I'm sure Teal'c has gone over this with you."

Jack knew enough about this cash cow to know there were more than one movie. You had to live under a rock not to know the basic premise to these things. But Teal'c was being too damn picky.

"Look, he's watched these, what, twenty times now?" Jack tossed the rental on the table. "How am I supposed to know which is which?"

Carter and Daniel just gave him a look -- one of those "know-it-all" looks that never failed to make Jack scowl. When they were done, they made their way over to the table to examine the rental.

Daniel's face puckered into a wrinkled frown as he studied the booklet they'd stuffed into the rental. "I think I've seen this before."

Carter leaned over to him. "Daniel?"

Daniel bypassed Carter completely and walked over to Teal'c, holding the booklet out so he could see it. "Don't you have this in your--"

"I do not," he snapped.

"But I swear--"

"Then, you are mistaken, Daniel Jackson. We will speak of it no more."

Daniel just stared at him. Carter smiled. And Jack was no idiot.

"Fine," Jack said, snatching the movie out of Daniel's hands before he headed to the DVD player. "We'll just watch something else and then catch this one later."

Teal'c held his head high and leaned back into one of Jack's chairs. "That is not necessary, O'Neill. You have paid money for this movie." He folded his hands. "I shall remain."

Jack couldn't help but smile, catching the sneaky grins that Daniel and Carter exchanged behind him, and for a moment he forgot about all the changes that would be happening in his life soon. There was only the moment, the company, and some really loud music that happened someplace far far away.

Hee!

That pretty much sums up my relationship with "The Phantom Menace".

Great job.

Daniel's so sneaky and poor Teal'c.
Though, I still refuse to believe Jack hasn't seen Star Wars, whatever he says in "Ascension."

Maybe he's seen it. Maybe he hasn't. He obviously knows about it from "1969." Heh heh.

Hahaha! Attack of the Clones is WAAAAAAY worse. But I know how Teal'c feels. It's just . . . I always watch the parts with Obi and Qui-Gon and fast-forward through everything else . . . and I don't know how many times I've done that . . .

The romance of Attack of the Clones was worse. Though, I remember when AOTC first came out. I really enjoyed it. I rationalized all the bad parts away.

But that script needed a serious script doctor. It's a shame because the ideas were good.

Haha! I'm with Teal'c on this that the latest three were not Star Wars. I'd love to see Teal'c use his staff weapon on Jar-Jar. *smiles contentedly* Anyway, cute story! I love them spending time together away from work. And Teal'c's voice was perfect.

Thanks! I don't remember where you are in the series, but Teal'c's Star Wars-ness comes back in the series in S9. Watch for it ;) It's a golden moment. I was squeeing like mad.

And man, Teal'c just rocks. Nuff said.

I will watch for it. I've only just finished season 6 so I have a ways to go yet. But yay for Teal'c being a Star Wars fan. *grins* And yes, he just totally rocks.

I'm seeing in my mind Daniel rolling his eyes at Jack and Teal'c. Teal'c sometimes loves to jerk Jack's chain. This would be a perfect instance.

This was funny!

I think that is what I like the most about Jack and Teal'c, aside from their loyalty. Teal'c loves to play with Jack but he does it with such finesse that Jack isn't sure sometimes whether he's joking or not. It's a beautiful thing.

lol! This is wonderful. Teal'c's steadfast denial is like that of a father who's disinherited a child. 'You are dead to me now. I have no son.' And yet he still keeps an eye on how the kid's doing, and he still has the family photo albums tucked away and maybe even still keeps a scrapbook, and if all his friends go to see a ballgame the kid's playing in, he'll let himself be dragged along -- but they will not speak of it. I also love how Carter says 'I'm sure Teal'c has gone over this with you.' So briefing-room!

Heh heh. As a Star Wars fan, I totally can get that. I think a lot of Star Wars fans feel that way about the prequels LOL

Thanks for reading!

Like Teal'c, I steadfastly insist that Phantom Menace is not "real" Star Wars. And yet . . . *completely succumbed to merchandising*

*snickers* Fabulous piece. I love how Teal'c sounds like every old school Star Wars and I love how everyone else picks up on it and then lets it slide. Oh, team! &hearts

Oh yes. We shall not discuss how times I have watched the prequels. We shall NOT.

I understand Teal'c's pain. But per S9, we know that he knows what's going on in them ;)

Thanks for reading! It was fun to write.
