My contribution to the November DanJan Challenge. Story is ship, Dan/Jan but includes the team.

Title: Three
Author: Moonshayde
Season: Eight
Category: Drama, Angst, A/A
Spoilers: Heroes, Lockdown, Zero Hour, Icon, with minor spoilers from other seasons.
Pairing/Character: Daniel/Janet, Team
Summary: The door to all; the door to one. In the circle, time undone. Past embrace, future gone. Beware the choice; the wishful come. As Daniel hears these words play over and over in his mind, he has to make a decision that could change his life and the lives of his friends forever.
Rating: PG-13

Author's Notes: Written for the November DanJan Challenge: Develop your plot around the number three. It's up to you what the number signifies in your fic, but it must be a crucial element to the storyline.

Thanks Meg for beta-ing this for me, as always.

Okay, so I didn't exactly break it into little bits to last me all day; when I got to the second "little bit" I got so swept up in the story that I just finished it! So wonderful!!! As always, it was fantastically well-written, and your characterization of Daniel was spot-on. But the thing that really got me was that through Daniel's realization that Janet wouldn't want other people to die so that she could be saved, and that it was okay to let her go, I found myself really unable to figure out whether you were going to bring her back or not in the end--and what's more, I wasn't sure it would have mattered a lot if she had stayed dead because you had dealt with the larger issues. Of course, I was overjoyed when she wasn't, and I did suspect and hope that's where you were going!!! Because Heroes fix-its are nearly always preferable to dead!Janet fics, in my mind! ;)

And now back to work!

Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed!

I prefer happy endings myself, but I wrote it so it could go either way. I know its a bit of a cliche theme so I wanted to put int a little guesswork and I did really need for it to be deeper. I needed Daniel to walk away with something that could change him.

Personally, I think it would be better as a sad little fic where Daniel learns to let go but Meg wouldn't let me ;)

Well, good for Meg! ;)

I mean yes, sad, angsty fics do have their place, of course, but I'm glad this one had a happy ending!
