I found my OLD notebooks with my Star Wars fanfic from high school/undergrad college. The question is, do I really need this anymore? I feel like I'm throwing away part of my life.

But dude, it's just crappy adolescent fanfic.

Keep it or ditch it? What would you do?

ETA: Y'all are enabling my sick habits.

Maybe I'll keep part of it as a sample. We're talking notebooks, plural. Lots of them. I was prolific.

I would keep it, but at worst could you scan it all on to your computer?

Maybe I can do that eventually. Though, that's a lot of work, LOL

KEEP IT!

Call me sentimental, but dude, stuff like that is worthy of holding on to. I threw away my first fanfic (because ppl at school got a hold of it and teased me) and even tho it was awful I still wish I had it now. I still have the second one I ever wrote. :)

Some of it sooo bad. I was debating it because of my clutter problem and my lack of room. But it's pretty hilarious. I think my OC names are the funniest thing ever!

I guess I just outed myself there, eh? We always knew my inner fifteen-year-old was going strong, though.

Ah, see I planned AHEAD for this day by keeping all my notes from school. Starting in high school. So they get axed first. ;)

Keep it... in some form. It'll be proof that your writing has improved (a lot). :D

I try to keep everything I've written - especially stuff I wrote when I was a teen. It's good for a laugh sometimes. I completed my first novel when I was 18; it is, most generously, crap. I know the story itself could be improved upon though - I'm even thinking of turning it into a film or TV series... when I have more time on my hands.

My first venture into fanfiction was for the Redwall series, when I had no idea what fanfiction actually was. I spent ages on it, and got somewhere around Chapter 31 when my brother tinkered with my computer, and... lost most of it. That was 15 years ago; I'm still whiny over that loss!

So, like... Keep it. Better to blame someone else than yourself. ;)

It's pretty hilarious stuff. And we always get better as we go, given we kepe to honing the craft :)

Keep at least some of them, yes. Think how valuable they'll be when you're a famous author...

on the other hand, maybe you don't want your audience to see you back then. Heh.

I think of them as blackmail material. On me. *hides*

Dude you need to keep it. The evolution of fanfic is awesome.

Plus one day when you are multibillionaire author every collector will want a piece of that stuff. (they'll have it in museums and stuff).

(I am totally serious about this btw baby :D)

The evolution is pretty amazing. We all can look back and see how much better we've gotten. :)

And hey, with the writing bit, I'd settle for multidollar!

And you'll have to pay big bucks to get it back so they don't publish it. Blackmail Nirvana: the fandom fallback plan.

Keep! I once threw away some old journals I didn't want—and apparently accidentally threw out the ones I did want with it. I wish I'd just kept it all. I might even have been amused at my adolescent journals.

keeeeeeeeeep! if you want to clear out space you can transcribe them to yoru harddrive, or scan them in?

From: [identity profile] moonshayde.livejournal.com
Scanning or transcribing would take forever and I'm way too lazy for that. So if I keep them I'd keep them as is.

Keep it. Reminds you how far you've come. But keep it under lock and key. Because there's always some joker (usually your best friend) who will think it's funny to remind everyone else how far you've come by posting that kind of shit on fanfic.net. :D
