The CW Fall Schedule is out. SPN is moving to Fridays to be paired up with Smallville again. So for S6, you can find SPN on at 9pm on Fridays.

They also released the overview thingy that they do every year. It gives us some idea what is in store for S6, but as always take it with a grain of salt.

Returning for its sixth season, this haunting series follows Sam and Dean Winchester, two brothers bound by tragedy and blood to their dangerous, other-worldly mission. This past season, Dean and Sam faced their toughest foe yet: the Devil himself. As the Apocalypse raged on around them, the brothers, aided only by a dwindling band of fellow hunters and rebel angel Castiel, sought a way to stop Lucifer and save the planet. Ultimately, they discovered a way to force Lucifer back into Hell and end the Apocalypse – but at tremendous cost: Sam’s life. Season six will be a season of mystery and shadow. Heaven and Hell have been left in complete disarray since the apocalyptic events of season five. And now, monsters, angels and demons roam across a lawless and chaotic landscape. And so Dean Winchester, who has retired from hunting and sworn never to return, finds himself being pulled back into his old life – pulled back by none other than Sam Winchester, who has escaped from Hell. The two reunite to beat back the rising tide of creatures and demon-spawn, but they quickly realize that neither are who they used to be, their relationship isn’t what it used to be, and that nothing is what it seems. The series stars Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester, Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester and Misha Collins as Castiel. SUPERNATURAL is from Warner Bros. Television in association with Wonderland Sound and Vision, with executive producers McG (“Nikita,” “Charlie’s Angels,” “The O.C.”), Eric Kripke (“Boogeyman”), Robert Singer (“Midnight Caller”), Sera Gamble, Ben Edlund and Phil Sgriccia.

So...Castiel is coming back. Yay! And looks like the inverse of the S1 pilot, doesn't it? In S1, Dean Winchester dragged Sam, who had given up the life, back into hunting. It looks like now Sam will do it to Dean.

I'm a little anxious about the part where they find their relationship isn't what it used to be, but it's expected. I hope S6 is about them rebuilding their relationship in a healthy way. I thought S5 was going to be that but...LOL. We only had a bit of it.

I loved S1 because we saw these two different people start to reconnect and reforge a relationship based on the love for each other as a family. I hope S6 does the same.

I like the pair up of the two shows. Hopefully they'll help each other out...though I have to wonder what show The Vampire Diaries is getting as a replacement for SPN. I thought they did well together too.

I thought it was going to be some other supernatural monster type show, but it looks like it'll be an international spy drama type show.

"there relationship isn't what it used to be, and nothing is as it seems" made me laugh, because if anything is Supernatural boilerplate synopsis, that's it.

LOL

I know, right?

That is like every. single. season.

Still, I'm looking forward to it :)

Yay Castiel! (And dude, Bobby still doesn't get full cast credit? Poor fella).

They offered Jim Beaver (Bobby) full cast/regular status last year. He declined. He's a widower who takes care of his little girl and he didn't want to uproot her from her home. So he travels back and forth as a recurring.

Yeah, he might be a big flirt with the fans, but he's a sweetie.

One of the reasons why I love this show so much is that the cast is geniunely a good one. They seem like nice people - as far as we can tell - and they love each other. So it makes watching so much easier knowing that LOL

Trying not to be a Debbie Downer, but it's hard knowing that Friday at 9 is like the Dead Zone of network television. I suppose fitting, as they're pretty sure S6 is the last? They've been put to pasture, where ratings don't matter. ;)

It might be the Dead Zone of network TV, but last year CW made a name for itself by having SV do well on a Friday. I don't anticipate SPN lasting much longer, even if the actors have expressed interest in staying even longer, but for CW it isn't as bad as it sounds.

I think I must be the only one out here who never remembers Smallville is on until it's 8:50 and it's already mostly over.

Actually, Thursdays at 9 is THE worst timeslot in the history of EVER, and yet SPN has held its own. The ratings actually might pick up when it moves to Fridays and has less competition, especially since it'll be paired up with Smallville again. Huge crossover audience there, and SV has been doing really well since its move.

So yeah, stop the downerness. ;) This could actually be a good thing!

Yes, I forgot we all have to be all puppies and rainbows no matter what.

ETA:
Sorry, that was snarkier than I meant. Not feeling hot today. Counting minutes until I can take meds for my head.

Mostly, it's that I cannot remember anything by Friday night so my own viewing experience is going to be affected. But at least I can watch Fringe in real time now. It's allllll about me!

I should know better than to interact on migraine days, at least the really bad ones. It was bad enough I had to do the stupid Board meeting while feeling like that, because apparently my "I feel miserable" face is often mistaken as "boy, she looks really focused/angry/unhappy" from the general response I got. Well, yes, I'm unhappy about feeling miserable. Duh! ;)

Whoops. Sorry. I don't know why sometimes I can plug away with head pain and sometimes I just snap.

Puppies and rainbows are a heck of a lot more fun than storm clouds, in my experience. ;)

And hey, if you can be negative all over someone, it's only fair that someone else can come along and dump positivity all over you. Just gonna have to deal with that, I'm afraid. ;)

I have a similar problem with Sundays. It's like a TV black hole for me, it's weird... no matter what's on, I can never remember without sticking a billion or so post-its around the room. But if all else fails, there's always downloads.

Your experience and my experience are not ever going to be the same. I think storm clouds are beautiful and awe-inspiring, puppies are yippy and rainbows can only happen if there's rain first. ;)

As for me, when people tell me to cheer up or smile when I was never in a foul mood in the first place (from my POV), it usually results in me being in a foul mood. Just so you know you're gonna have to deal with that.

Fridays are just so brain-dead for me. I'm exhausted, usually still recovering from my weekly Wednesday migraine, etc. I will, though, probably have a slightly better chance of remembering SPN than I ever have with Smallville. I'm an SPN fan, and a casual Smallviller.

Well, by storm cloud I meant people who rain on other people's parades. I don't find them all that attractive, to be honest.

I thought you watched Medium and Numb3rs?

Sometimes the intent is not to rain on parades.

I have Medium and Numb3rs on. Medium usually just to catch Joe and Numb3rs used to make me fall asleep quite often. In the last year, I don't think I made it through a full episode of either.

I'm actually really curious as to how the numbers will go on a Friday. Like I said elsewhere, I consider everything we have now a bonus, so if the numbers are bad, it doesn't really matter. S6 is probably the last unless CW wants to resign J2.

You never know with the CW. They make some really odd decisions - I swear by the adverts that One Tree Hill was a goner, and then I saw it got renewed. Bzuh?

I never thought they should have split up Smallville and SPN. Of course, I never thought they should have moved the show from Tuesdays. Hehe.

So, I am really torn in how I feel about this. Part of me automatically goes: Yay! More Winchesters - I can't wait! And another part of me feels like where it ended this previous season (as sad as it was) was rather perfect. So... yeah.

I am intrigued to see where they go from here - and there's a lot of things I do want answered (for instance, is Chuck God??). I just hope it keeps the same feeling and energy that made it good in the first place. Fingers crossed for brotherly reconnection, too. I always loved that this show had a believable sibling bond.

They ended so well this year, but the writers are thinking of S6 kind of like a movie sequel. I can live with that. It will feel that way anyway :)

And we have so many questions left to be answered. We'll see where it goes!

I peeked. ;)

That sounds AWESOME. And yes, I'm sure people will be ranting and raving over the whole "their relationship isn't what it used to be" thing, but I think they say that at the start of every season, LOL. If Dean's all domesticated and Sam's all Hell-scarred, then yeah, they'll have to get to know each other all over again. And I CANNOT WAIT. Is it season 6 yet?? Because I'm officially excited. :D

It does sound awesome, doesn't it? Sounds like they'll flip S1 which will be interesting. They like their parallels.

In S1 they had been apart for a couple of years, were older (not little boys) and spent the season bonding and getting to know each other. Here's me hoping for the same parallel in S6 :)

From: [identity profile] meg-tdj.livejournal.com
I'm definitely hoping for some serious S1-type bonding this season. Hopefully there won't be any actual tension between them - we've had Dean's deal, Sam's secret blood-drinking, the whole Sam-betrayed-Dean-and-raised-Lucifer thing for them to get over... I'm ready for them to be on the same page again!

I too wonder about the Friday time slot ... although I always said if you put good programming on Friday night, people would watch (didn't X-Files start that way). I'm more conflicted because they moved CSI:NY to Friday's at 9...which tells me it probably doesn't have a long shelf life which is a shame since it's my favorite of the three CSI's.

But I digress ... I'm holding out hope for Season 6, but I'm guessing it will be the last. Then again, maybe they'll stage a comeback for Friday nights! And I'm going to wait and see on "Nikita." Don't know if they can top the version I loved from years ago. But pairing it with VD might be interesting.

Was happy to see that Castiel is coming back. :) I thought for sure he wouldn't be in it if they were going to wrap up the whole Apocalypse storyline. Totally agree - it does look like the inverse of the pilot.

The relationship part kind of worries me a little. I guess it is to be expected, though. If Sam is dragging Dean back into hunting, the roles are certainly reversed. Maybe Dean is a bit reluctant to get back into it with the whole Apocalypse averted, and Sam has to convince him for some reason. It'll be interesting. I really want to see them rebuilding their relationship in a healthy way, too. The "nothing is what it seems" part worries me, too. I hope Sam isn't a demon or anything like that.
