Yesterday my AIM quit working. Just refused to connect. I haven't been able to connect since.

I've tried rebooting. I've tried restarting AIM. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I've restarted my modem and router.

It still won't connect. My internet connection is fine.

Help?

Nope. There must be a critical issue somewhere in my computer that won't allow it to work. I've tried just about everything I can think of. I don't know what else to do :(

A few ideas:

problem firewall
My new laptop came with some annoying norton internet security, which randomly decided to block me from yahoo and livejournal. Uninstalling it finally fixed that problem, so maybe you've got something like that.

Another thing you could try is installing Trillian or Pigin, and see if you can connect that way.

I know it's not a firewall issue because I have that all set. So I really don't know why I can't connect.

I might have to use one of those other programs, but darn. I like my AIM :(

Well, they're pretty useful, I tend to recommend them anyway. (it's so useful to be able to be connected to AIM and Yahoo and MSN and my IRC chat all through one program).

But if you can connect to AIM through trillian, you'll know it;s not likely the AIM client, and it may be easier to start figuring out what it is.

I guess I'll have to try that. I can sign into AIm express at the website. It's just the actual program that won't work for some reason.

If you can't connect using AIM program, try meebo.com?
If it doesn't connect through that either...then there must be something wrong with AIM's server...or however that works ^^
