I created a Dean/Jo Friending Meme and then decided, you know what? I'm just making this a Dean/Jo weekend instead.

*listens to the collective gasps of horror, especially by my fellow GEN folk*

I pride myself on being a gengal. I love my gen, and Sam and Dean are the heart and soul of Supernatural. I love all the complex gen relationships, the family relationships, and don't think the show is suited for too much romance.

That said, I decided that I can love and adore my gen stuff to my heart's content, but just because I'm gen doesn't mean I can't get into something else. So that's it. Dean/Jo weekend because I've started to really like them. :)

Jo's the daughter of that lady who owned a bar and she ran away and Dean liked her a lot and then she just sorta disappeared, right? I liked her.

Can you tell I haven't paid attention to this show since the second or third season?

Yes, he does treat her a little differently, and it's also changed over time. He's gone from flirty to brotherly and now I think he's moving more toward something more equal. And like you said, all the while he's been in character.

I love them together, think they are really awesome. Yesterday’s episode was kinda disappointing for them, just a lousy ‘Hey’. I mean come on now, they haven’t seen each other in ages and that’s it. Oh well moving on. Hope that she will be back though for eppies. I’m really happy that you also liked them and I really hope that you will keep on writing your wingfics of them lol.

It would have been nice to see them have some more screentime for sure, but I think SO much was said in that brief little exchange. And it made me so happy.

I have a friend that doesn't ship them at all and this is what she had to say:

I don't think it was your imagination at all! I actually saw RESPECT in that moment, which I don't recall seeing from Dean in regards to Jo before. And you could see that he was glad to see her, and that almost seemed to take him by surprise. It was such a sweet little moment, and you could see that even though Jo had probably told herself she was over her Dean crush (the whole "I'll call you later," "No you won't" exchange gave me the impression she'd do that), it was still there the second she saw him again, despite her trying to hide it. ;)

I've seen people complain that there wasn't enough interaction between them, but really, I don't think anything more needed to be shown to get the point across. She's not pretty-girl-to-flirt-with turned bratty-kid-sister anymore, she's his peer and someone he likes. And since she's not dead, I can totally see something happening between them somewhere down the road. You know, once the weight of the world is off his shoulders and he has time to think about relationships. ;)

I'm excited that I'm finally getting more into them because they can be a lot of fun. And yes, I'm going to keep writing my wing!fics. I'm working on a gen one right now, though, but I'll keep working on Dean/Jo ones too. It's part of the story after all.

I might even put up a post later this weekend for ficlet prompts for Dean/Jo in my wing!verse. It depends if there is interested or not. And I have trouble writing short fic, so it might not even work, LOL.

awww your friend so ships them lol. and after reading that it really changed my mind about yesterdays episode. I guess a simple 'hey' can mean many things. your friend rocks lol.

I also second this. I was a little bummed after seeing just a 'hey' -- but I think that has to do with the fact that I had built up such an epic reunited scene in my head that it was really my own fault that I expected more. Your friend is right; a little can say a lot. I think that by not killing her off shows that the writers don't think of Jo as just another 'girl in every port'. She has potential to be an important asset to Dean later on down the track. I mean really, what a better way to learn how to be a good hunter than in an apocalypse - after Jo survives this I don't think Ellen will be able to say her daughter can't handle things.
I also liked how Dean interacts with Ellen - anyone else with me in believing that Dean is already acting the part of a good son-in-law??? With that mighty slap Ellen delivered she is certainly playing the mother-in-law LOLS.

PS. Please, please, please write more dean/jo in ur wingfic! I LOVES it!
