It is definitely not my favourite! :)

I don't hate it. I'm just not very compelled by it. It's weird.

I am terribly uninterested in the whole "Wizards have hormones too!" plot lines. So I REALLY didn't like "Order of the Phoenix", and "Half Blood Prince" was saved by the fact that the hormonal sub plot was very much overshadowed by the main plot of the book.

I did see the movie. It was okay. I liked some of the creative license done with it, but the book is dragging.

That's the beginning of the end for the HP books. Stop reading it, watch the movie. Movie was pretty good. :) In fact from here on out just watch the movies, they're much more enjoyable than the rest of the books.

I very much agree with this. *especially* regarding book 5/ movie 5.

Wow, and see I heard a lot of people didn't like the fifth movie.

The only thing the movie lost was about 200 pages of teenage whining. :-p I remember teenage wangsting well enough to not need the refresher course.

Truthfully though, the HP books are some of the only ones where I've generally liked the movies more than the books. And mostly, that has to do with the fact that while the books are fun and all, in my opinion there're some weaknesses in the writing that detract from the story, which the movies can gloss over or improve on.

Really? That's a little depressing. Do the next few books just have bad plot or something? I am spoiled for some character death, so that doesn't bother me so much even if I like a couple of the characters. Amazingly, I am very unspoiled for the last book.

I started reading the books after I watched every movie - except for 5 as I haven't watched it yet - and that never stopped my enjoyment. I'm just not sure why I can't get into this one.

Hm. I don't remember loving or hating the fourth book. It's more like a rite of passage in my memory than anything else. I remember being very upset by it... in the end. I'm just starting the third book. I just reread the first two and that was delightful.

I really liked the 3rd one. I think that is my fave book and fave movie.

Oh man... I hated the 5th book, but I can't remember one way or the other about the 4th.

Does no one like the 5th book? LOL I thought a lot of people hated the 6th one.

I don't know, lol. I've heard tell of people who have liked it. I guess it just appeals to a narrower group of people than the other books. It wasn't that I hated it, it just annoyed me slightly. Harry was an angry teen and a little less sympathizable in it.

I loved the fifth book, and I really liked the sixth and most of the seventh. Also loved the third. Really for me, I found the 1, 2 and 4 to be the least interesting of the bunch as a whole (obviously 1 and 2 did their jobs in bringing me back, but it's sort of like when you buy a CD because of one song and then that one song ends up being the one you never listen to).

*hands up*

Hello, my name is Ellie and I've never read a Harry Potter book in my life.

**is somewhat mortified at admitting that in public**

Heh heh.

I wanted to give them a try a few years back. JKR doesn't have the best prose, but the first three books were kinda fun. I've just sort of lost interest, I guess.
