I've seen this one all over my flist...

Ask me one fandom-related question in the comments. This can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general.

Just one question, please, but it can (and perhaps should) have sub-parts.

Question can be as wacky as you want. Ask me about tv shows, characters, fanfic in general, fandom issues/meta, anything about any of my stories specifically. Whatever you want.

Go ahead. Ask me whatever you want. I don't mind.

What are your shows' most hilarious, honest-to-God, snort-something-out-of-your-nose funny moments? Unlimited number of responses. :D

Why do you like Smallville's Lois Lane?

How couldn't I?

While I do think the character shouldn't be introduced so early in Clark Kent's history - though it has been done in comics before so this is nothing new - I think she embodied the modern current take on Lois perfectly.

She has the modern background - military brat, sister Lucy, father who is a general, mother who died young. She has the abrasive attitude.

I loved how they started her off not even liking journalism and remaining in denial for so long, like many of the characters on the show. Watching her investigate, learn, and make mistakes has been a blast. She's still learning what works and what doesn't, while sneaking around/getting in trouble which is such a part of her character.

Not only does she have all the personality traits of Lois Lane, but she also manages to deliever the nods to former Lois Lanes in her performance. She's an ex-smoker and behaves a lot like Margot Kidder's Lois. She has had moments where she acts like Teri Hatcher's Lois. And she has had moments where she acts like Dana Delany's Lois from the cartoon.

Yet, she still has her own unique tke on the character. She is one of my fave Lois Lanes ever :)

Cool! I sort of skirted this fandom until about season four when I fell out of it completely, but she drove me bonkers. Perhaps I didn't give her enough time before I lost the show.

Like every character on this show, they've done some questionable things with her and they made some poor choices to make her stick around and fit into the story. But the core character herself really captures Lois Lan. I mean, she really has it nailed. I really enjoyed the arc they gave her when she started working at a tabloid and realized no one was taking her seriously. It made her step up her game and push harder which eventually landed her at the Daily Planet. :)

But I know a lot of people don't like her. I like my Lois fiesty and hard-edged. She's rude and blunt and I love it :) So, I didn't have much of a problem with her in S4 to begin with.

(s4 just really suffered by having a bad bad season long arc. Even the pretty Jensen Ackles couldn't save it.)

Do you find it hard to ship canon couples? Why or why not? And feel free to give examples that involve ranting or gushing! :p

That's a tough question. Because honestly? It really depends on the show, the pairing, and the context. Also, everyone's definition of "canon" varies just as it does per show.

So do you mean canon UST? That's tricky because who decides if there is UST or not? Canon established couple? Canon flings?

Sometimes it is easy for me to ship pairings where I see UST. Like Mulder/Scully from The X-Files or Kaylee/Simon from Firefly. Other times, I can happy ship established pairings like Mary/John from SPN. In fact, more often that not I find it easier for me to enjoy a pairing that is already established since I don't have to bother with that stalling of will they/won't they? Bad writing on TV has soured me on many romances and I long for something fresh.

I have a harder time shipping, say, Dean with someone on SPN because he has so many flings, the show works better focused on family, and I don't see Dean having some epic love story. When I ship, I want to invest in my ship. SPN does not allow for me to do that. Neither did SG-1.

Pirates of the Carribean did. And I shipped away on that one :)

I mainly just wanted your opinion on canon ships in general (and UST counts in my opinion, since I'm a Mulder/Scully and Kaylee/Simon shipper, too ;)). I know you don't ship a whole lot since you're more into gen, and I was curious as to why. That was the best way I could think of to word the question, LOL!

I think I'm just one walking contradiction ;)

I am a huge romantic at heart and love romance. I've been shipping since I was little with Lois/Clark my long-time OTP.

Lately, many of the shows I watch don't seem to fit the right mood or atmosphere for me to ship. SG-1 is about a team of explorers. They act more like family than anything else, so I can't really ship for that show. SPN is about brothers and any ship as presented in the show sort of skews the dynamic for me.

Other shows, I'm a shipper. On Smallville, I ship Lois/Clark. XF I shipped Mulder/Scully (though I didn't want it to happen until the end of the show). On Firefly, I was loving the Kaylee/Simon.

So for me, it truly does depend on the story :)

Fandom can be a little trickier because you can create AUs and do your own thing. So for SG-1, I've written so many pairings it isn't funny even though I am adamantly gen for the show. For SPN, I've started to explore Dean/Jo and decided I rather like it for fandom, though not necessarily for the show.

Does that make any sense? LOL I'm so all over the place.

If you could only pick one show fandom which one would it be???

Huh. That's tough. I'm really loving Supernatural right now, but I'm not really into the fandom aside from some lovely people I have on my flist. My interest in SG-1 has waned quite a bit, but some of the peiple I've met through that fandom i think I'll know for life.

So...hmm. I guess I'd have to go with SG-1's fandom. Lots of batshit, but the good in my life with them right now outweihs the bad :)

OK. What's your favourite incarnation of Lois, and your favourite incarnation of Clark/Superman? And why?
