Friends Cuts

Yes, I know everyone is doing it, but it really is that time again. I'll be cutting in the next day or so.

If you get cut, it's because:

1. You have had an inactive journal for months.
2. We have vastly different interests and never clicked beyond a couple of posts.
3. We used to talk, but we've drifted and rarely speak anymore.

Some of you are very lovely people and I would rather not make the cut, but we just don't talk. Since I do take my friendships (even online) very seriously, I want to devote my time to people who want to have conversation.

As always, if you feel I've cut you in error just let me know. This really isn't about stress or drama, I swear. It could easily be a misunderstanding :)

It's okay. I hate these posts because I don't like to cause anyone any undue drama. I'm not cutting anyone fairly new to my flist. I understand it takes time to get to know people and get comfortable. Plus, the holidays and such. Don't worry. it's all good.

I won't be offended in the slightest if I'm cut. We met on a friending meme, but recently I've been absent or otherwise too busy for Livejournal to nurture any friendships.

ETA: By which I don't mean to imply that I find your posts disinteresting or that I am considering unfriending you of my own initiative. Just. I'll undestand if I'm in the cut.

Oh geez no. No flailing! I'm not cutting anyone recent. it takes time to get to know people. This is more geared to people who don't post and have been around for a while or who I just don't talk to much anymore. It allows me to focus more oon people that I might be missing.

Yeah, I understand the holidays can be tough. I have been horrible with posting on people's LJs. I really want to pay more attention to people this year because the last few months were insane!

I think we're still getting to know eahc other anyway so don't worry. I'd like to get to know you better.

I hate doing it. I really do. But there are some people I never talk to and then I end up skimming tons of posts and I miss posts that could be interesting or important.

Plus, I'm sure there have to be people that have drifted that would like to cut me loose.

It's just a hard thing to do.

Another alternative is to create a group list of the friends/comms that you must check every day (so you don't miss them) and then use that filter drop-down menu at the top of the flist page. It works great! It already has an option for comms only, friends only, etc.

I seem to have lost a few people lately and I know it's because I just haven't been around a great deal for my online pals. I've become a skimmer and I haaaate it.

So, totally understand and don't feel bad. I can't bring myself to cut people even though I probably should and have even made myself a reading list filter that I can't keep up with. *kermit hands of frustration*

The only thing I miss about my old job was being able to tool around on LJ for hours during the day. :)

Aw, yeah. I've been feeling the same way too. See, since I don't have much time, I'm just being a horrible flist person. I really want to get to know people better. I tend to read fics of people I start to have a person connection with, so I feel kind of bad that you post fic after fic and I just haven't had time to read it. So I thought if I trimmed you down, you wouldn't wonder: why does that person never comment but is on my flist?
