Supernatural 4x09: I Know What You Did Last Summer

Not too much to say about this episode. I enjoyed it, but I've had a bad bad week so I am highly distracted.



Like I said, I enjoyed it. I don't think it was their strongest episode this season, though. It started off really good and though I loved the Sam flashbacks, I found that it slowed the pacing of the episode. So the middle sort of dragged and felt like a stall. I don't think it was intended that way, though.

Poor Sam. Nice to see what he went through though. And now we finally have a little more insight with Ruby, though we still don't know her true intentions or why she is the way she is. JP did a great job in those scenes. Loved the CRD part.

Everyone who knows me knows I don't care for sex scenes on SPN. I don't need to se ethe guys naked or make out. I do give the writers credit for trying not to make the Sam/Ruby thing too skeevy. That's all I'm saying about it. Didn't bug me, but I expect fandom blow out. I still won't ship Sam/Ruby though. I don't like ship for this show. Except John/Mary. I just made a conscious decision not to be a control freak and let TPTB create their vision as they see fit. I'm done with flipping out about stuff on this show. ;)

ETA: Did you see Dean's face when Sam compared him to Ruby? When he said that Ruby kind of said what Dean would say? I don't think Dean liked that comparison too much. LOL

New demon is cool and I'm curious to see where the plot goes. Very interesting with the angels.

I so called it earlier this week that both Sam and Dean would be having a sex scene on one of the comms I visited. Looks like it's Dean's turn next week. Maybe then we can get the CW stuff out of their system and get back to the plot :)

I'm not anti-sex or anything. I just tend want them to just stick with the angst and the funny and the plot. As much as I like to think naughty thoughts of teh pretteh in my head, I don't watch the show to ship ;)

Well, the CW promos are never good anyway. They last like 20 seconds and by the time you process the first flash of a scene, it's over. LOL I usually have to watch them on youtube to understand anything

It's the best way to go. I'm no prude or anything, but I don't favor sex scenes on the show. Just because for me it disrupts the story. I know I am in the minority, though.

But it was either get all spazzy about things I don't like on the show and ruin my fun or just sit back, enjoy the story, and let the creator do what he wants.

So really? The second option is the way to go. Why ruin our fun? Why let the fandom harsh our squee?

That is why I am just here to enjoy the ride :) It's not *my* creation so I just have to let it unfold as it does. As a writer, I have to respect that.

I'm the same. I always feel like the sex scenes are kinda gratuitously thrown in there and don't ever really serve a lot of plot purpose. (Then again, I'm just a jealous fangirl.)

Same here. This one did a better job fitting into the plot. It didn't see AS gratuitous as the others. It showed Sam's desperation.

Doesn't mean I have to love it though ;)

I liked this ep.

Not thrilled with the Sam/Ruby scene, but what can you do? I'm just going to pretend it was a one time thing. Or that maybe it didn't even happen. Because I didn't need to see that.

And I had the same thought when Sam compared Ruby to Dean. Dean didn't like that very much.

I can't wait to see where they're taking the storyline this season. *bounces and makes grabby hands for next week*

As long as we don't have to see more of it I am okay with it. Or worse, I wouldn't want to see Sam/Ruby OTP on this show.

So hopefully it was just an act of desperation and we can move on. The episode was good though. Like I said, I had some pacing problems and almost would have liked Sam's story to have an entire episode dedicated to it to keep the Anna story going full speed ahead, but it wasn't bad by any means.

Can't wait for next week :)

Despite my gigantic rant about the sex stuff (seriously, that scene was just tossed in all random and without any lead-up), I did enjoy the episode.

It was nice to finally see something in greater detail for Sam this year, and how terrible it was for him after Dean died. He looked awful in the flashbacks.

It was wonderful to get some insight into Sam's character. The CRD scene was wonderful. We don't get this kind of stuff with Sam very often, so i cherish when we do. :)

I hear what you mean about the flashbacks slowing the pace. Also, I always want to seem more brother interaction, so it took away from that. But it was important to see Sam's story, too. (And didn't it just break my heart? Oh, it did.)

I hope that next week we'll find out more about Dean's summer, too.

See, I almost feel like the Sam stuff should have been given it's own episode. It sort of threw off the pacing in this episode. It was greta stuff, don't get me wrong. I am not arguing against it. We really needed to see what Sam went through. And it gave us some great Sam characterization which i think he desperately needed this season.

I'm just questioning the use of it within the context of this episode. Either way, the episode still was good. Not the strongest, imo, but even weaker SPN eps are like miles ahead of other shows LOL

That was totally my favourite part! I thought of it last season, the way she approaches "the business", as it were, is very Dean.
