I'm kinda not surprised, actually.

So apparently SGA is getting cancelled. You know, when it first started up I didn't think it would last very long, especially with the casting changes happening early in the series. But then it seemed to be going on pretty strong around S2 and S3 even if I didn't like it. At that point, I figured they were going to press for five season. That seems to be the magic number for tv shows to better syndicate.

I do give the show credit for lasting longer than I intially thought it would, though. And it sounds like they want to do movies, so any SGA fans will at least have that.

Sorry, guys. It always sucks when you shows get cancelled. :(

I have the first two seasons, but I haven't seen anything beyond that. I'd like to, though. I dunno--I admit I feel kind of relieved that I know how much I'll need to see to be all caught. I'm following a number of shows right now, and while I like SGA and want to do some fandom type things, I'm more comfortable with closed canon than open. Pretty much everything I've loved and written for has either been finished--Star Wars Original Trilogy, Phantom Menace, Jedi Apprentice Books, Farscape--or winding down--SG-1 was in its last couple of season when I started loving it.

Except now Supernatural, of course, but that's okay. :)

I was always a closed canon person, too, until I started watching SG-1. But even when I started watching SG-1, I came in during the middle of S7. Most of the show had already ended at that point anyway. Star Wars was the first fandom I was really active in, even if it was just mainly me exhanging stories with someone else. But I consumed the news, etc.

SPN is a somewhat new experience for me. I jumped in during the middle to end of S2 and the show ideally is supposed to be five season (if the network survives that long.) So it's a very open canon show but it doesn't have much longer at the same time.

Open canon is way too taxing on my fragile, easily-attached-to-characters mind. I like waiting till a series is finished to make sure I know what I'm getting into. Torchwood is a perfect example of why I should not be in active canon.
