Supernatural Chat?

meg_tdj and I have an idea. (ETA: Change of date. Please tell us if this works better.)

As you know, I am HUGE into SPN right now and thought, hmm. Maybe we should do some kind of internet thing where a bunch of us could get together and have fun. And this is what we came up with.

We're thinking of having a summer Supernatural chat/party thing. We're actually fairly positive and upbeat fans about the show, and we'd love to be able to chat it up and have some fun with other fans who are going nuts waiting for Season 4 to arrive ;)

Some ideas we have so far:

**Watch an episode or two (based on a poll that we'll post later)
**Maybe some fic prompts and have people racing to finish drabbles based on the theme
**General chat where we can talk about the show and relax
**Maybe a screencap or art project for people talented in that area

And we're open to suggestions.

We'd only have a few caveats. Since we want as many people to come as possible, we would appreciate no spoilers, RPS, Wincest, or anything too graphic like in R and NC-17 way. This isn't a dig to anyone who likes the above, but if we keep it gen and the rating a little lower, we can include more people that way :)

The goal is really to have a fun place free of wank. Me? I'm a Dean fan, but I love the other characters. Meg? She's a Sam fan and she loves the other characters too. And we get along! *gasp shock horror* So, I think fans of all kinds could come and have a blast :)

All you need is a free Delphi account. Sometimes it can be a little buggy, but my computer from doom can handle it, so I figure most people should be fine. If you have any problems at all, meg_tdj knows a few magic tricks that can help you out. We will start promoting it around some if there is enough interest, and the chatroom can hold quite a few people. We really are trying to stay away from the wankier side of fandom, though, so we haven't ironed out exactly where we'll promote it.

We're still planning, and it's really contingent on how many people might be interested. Right now, we have a tentative date for Friday, June 20 maybe around 6pm EST or earlier or later depending on what works better for people, but we can change if it's too inconvenient for a lot of people. We're never going to find a date and time that's perfect for everyone, but we'd like to at least please the majority.

Thoughts and suggestions wanted!! Please either contact me or meg_tdj with any thoughts, questions, or concerns. We're excited and want to make this work. We've done similar ones before with other shows, so it can be done. :)

(Btw, feel free to pimp this around in your own LJ's and gage any interest your friends might have, but since we're still planning, we'd appreciate it if you didn't start publicizing it in different comms yet. Thanks!)

A passing thought - Sunday evening EST will be Monday morning for anywhere not in America (like, middle of the night in the UK, and up to around mid-morning in Australia). I mean, I'd guess that the majority of people joining in will probably be in the US, but... just from my own experience. :)

No we're aware of that. :( It's going to depend on how many people are from which areas. If most people are from say, Australia, then we'd have to arrange it around that. At this point, I have no idea who would be interested and from where.

Even 6pm est is not ideal for many Americans. We went for that time hoping to grab people from other time zones. We're just waiting for input to see if there was interest and gave ourselves a date and time as a starting point.

It's too bad we didn't have some magic time bubble to have everyone on the same page ;)

I can try to be there - I'm dreadfully unreliable when the sun starts shining, and if that time is kept it'll be smack in the afternoon. Then again, I'm also dreadfully lazy and could very well be inside and around then. Hee hee.

Hmmm, I wonder if my old Delphi persona is still out there.

That would depend on the time. I'm at work/in transit until 8:30 PM EST. And at that, I'm usually pretty dog tired on Fridays. This isn't a bad thing - I can get much punchier and goofier then. ;)

We'll be opening the chat earlyish for the UK folks, but we'll probably keep it open until well into the night, so... anytime you can make it, we'll be there. :)
