So, I'm caught up on my TV now :)

Let's start with 007, er I mean Sleeper.

SV: Sleeper

Okay, this was a weird episode. But since I like Jimmy and Chloe so much, it didn't bother me.

Hardly any Clark or Lex in this one. No Kara. No Lionel (sniff). No Lois. No Lana.

It still worked, though. The tango scene was a riot. And Jimmy/spy is a nod to other stuff I have seen before, so I thought that was cute. The whole angst and drama of their relationships gets old fast, but what can you do? This is SV. Chimmy is like Clana 2.0. *sigh*

But it set the foundation for the next episode which looks like it will ROCK. Plus, we have Lex on the fast track to discovering something he shouldn't *squee*

I don't have too much to say about it because it was mostly a filler ep and it didn't have a whole lot going on. Chloe seen as a terrorist was an interesting angle. I don't buy Jimmy beliving it so quickly, but I can understand his suspicion. Chloe (necessairly) keeps a lot of secrets. But you know, as much as I love Chloe and think AM is an amazing actress, I really wish the writers would stop having her make most of the deductive leaps for Clark. It makes Clark look bad. I don't want them to dumb down Chloe. Just stop making Clark look so confused all the time and make him more proactive. Can you imagine how awesome they would be together if the writers did that? *sigh*

I need an icon of Jimmy and Chloe dancing though, methinks. Too funny.

And now, we can get on with Ghost Hunters! Oops! I mean, Ghostfacers.

SPN: Ghostfacers

After my mom ranted on how much hated this episode - yes my mom loves this show - I was terrified to watch it. Then, I heard people on my flist didn't like it. I became more terrified. And then my brother called it rubbish. *wibble*

I liked it. I really liked it. Now, I won't say it's my fave episode ever. Or even a fave episode period, but it worked for me. Maybe it's just me. Or maybe it's because I am used to these tricks from my X-Files days.

It doesn't hurt that I like the show Ghost Hunters either. Hee hee.

No, seriously. I really liked it. I liked how what we saw was a completely biased account of what happened. We saw the edited, finished product, as if we were watching an actual show. And that nice little scene at the end just cements that everything we saw was a creative endeavor. Can you imagine everything that was left on the cutting room floor? Or events that the cameras couldn't catch?

Essentially, we saw what Ed and Harry wanted us to see. They made it to be what they thought it should be to sell on TV. I don't even think that Sam and Dean swore as much as they did - I think it was manipulation on the part of the editing. And this editing was done to mimic Ghost Hunters amazingly well, including the opening credits.

This type of biased pov technique has been used before on TV. XF did a COPS episode some years back. XF did Jose Chung's from Outer Space. This type of method works if done well. That's why I think this episode succeeded. It worked if you remember what you are seeing is not the true reality. This sort of problem always interested me when I used to study intent in documentaries in my anthropology classes *geek squee* While showing us that problem, the show also parodies and demonstrates how stupid we can be ;)

Problems with the episode? Those guys annoy me. I know they are supposed to annoy me, but they really really annoyed me. I could stomach them better in Hell House because the story followed Sam and Dean interacting with them. This episode was the opposite. It made it harder to deal with them.

The gay love joke and some of the other jokes didn't really work for me either, though I admit that scene where whichever guy reached out to the dead one was touching.

Other highlights were how they slipped Dean's deal into the episode and made it seem very natural in conversation. I loved the scene where Sam lost his temper and then later when the camera guy asked if it was cancer.

The still camera angles are classic horror and I enjoyed it. It makes the atmosphere very creepy. I loved the creepy birthday party. Love love love.

But see, I really liked the Blair Witch Project. So I have definite bias here ;)

You have to wonder what was going through the brother's heads, especially Sam. The events in the footage were supposed to have taken place on Feb 29th, which means this happened not too long after Mystery Spot. Sam had just recently watched Dean die over and over and over again, and now they are stuck in a house that will likely be their death. I can see Sam easily losing his temper with that in mind.

Anyway, I loved the style and the atmosphere most, along with the Sam and Dean insight/scenes we received. I could have done with less of the silly and annoying guys, though.

And next week? OMG!!! Is it May 1st yet? Pleeeease.

I'm looking for icons of the dancing scene, too! I hope someone comes though...

Me too. That was such a cute scene. Odd, but cute. I bet the actors had fun :)

Hey...I can be chipper! It's not my fault you sign on when my body is shutting down :P

But, it um, may have something to do with my fabulous hiarcut *flips hair*

Or it could be the caffeine...

See, I really liked Ghostfacers, too. There were people on some of the forums where I hang out who hated it, but I really liked it. Yeah, I watch Ghost Hunters too. Heh. :) I liked all the little nods to that show throughout, including the ones you mentioned here. I probably went into it a bit more than necessary in my LJ's review.

They annoy me, too. I think the problem was that we had them in smaller doses in Hell House. In Ghostfacers, the show pretty much revolved around them. They were in charge, and at times it seemed like... well... like a little too much.

I didn't take the gay thing seriously, to be honest. It did fall pretty flat, although it was kind of cute how they stuck in a scene of him at the end as a tribute, and it was nice to see the one guy reaching out to him (and he himself stopping the vengeful or whatever spirit that was keeping them all stuck there).

Nice mention of just what is probably going through Sam's head at this point. You could pretty much see glimpses of that when he told Dean he only had 2 months to live, and now they're gonna be stuck to die in there.

So looking forward to next week's ep.

The little glimpses we got were beautiful. Because it was all so subtle. Usually, since the eps are from the brothers' pov, we see them talk and angst. But since this was from someone else's pov, basically the camer set up, we only had what we could see. I really really likd that.

It's almost Thursday :)

*sigh* No, not yet. *builds time machine*

I liked parts of this episode, still not sure how I feel about the whole thing. There was plenty of funny, though. Like the "Inside the salt, you idiot!" exchange.

We're almost there! Getting closer!

I still don't think this ep will be one of my faves, but I really do like the style and the feel to the episode.

Your Sleeper review is definitely among of the kinder ones I've read about this episode, lol. It does a few good things actually, but when I first watched it I was just pissed off about how they wrote Clark here that I almost simply blanked out everything else.

Yeah, I was kinder than I really felt, probably. I just don't want to automatically be labeled a Chloe hater. I'm not. This episode wasn't outstanding by any means, but at least it was fun, if you ignore the character assasination done to Clark, that is.

I'm okay with filler every so often. It happens. It helps break tension. The timing is a bit weird, but I suppose TW needed the time to prep. Still, it would have been so easy for them to make Clark look awesome and not dumb Chloe down. The Chlark in this episode was downright embarassing :(

But it was a great episode for Jimmy and Chloe and I'm sure the actors had a ton of fun :)
