Last night's ep surpassed all my expectations. It was awesome. This show never fails to impress when they focus on Clark and Lex.

Hi, new friend!

So, as of now, you're the only person I know who continues to watch Smallville in its current season. I've heard tell it hasn't been great. And truth be told, I can't imagine it without AoT (I could be biased though). What are your thoughts on the season as whole?

I'm really enjoying this season, actually. I guess it depends on who your fave character are. I'm a fan of a whole bunch of characters, so there is usually something there to keep me happy. However, even though I've been enjoying this season, it's not without its problems.

I'm not quite sure if you hate some characters, ship others, etc. Kara is kind of meh and I miss AoT, though unfortunately they hadn't really been doing much with her at the end.

The Clark/Lana hasn't bothered me this season because it felt so broken and finale. Like they started to realize they aren't reall who they thought they were. I felt it was refreshing and mature.

Lex has been fabulous, getting closer to his iconic self. Lois has been great, stupid work fling and all, and has really been developing into a Lois Lane that really takes all the other incarnations before her and runs with them.

Lionel has continued to be solid and his good/bad flipflop tendancies make perfect sense to me. They just did so much with his character.

Jimmy is a little uneven, but I still like him. Chloe rocks as usual, though I feel like they are setting her up for a fall. Her character has been through a ton of crap this season.

And Clark...well, Clark is still the character TPTB are the most inconsistent with. It gets really annoying sometimes, but I can understand some of his motivations. I'm not a diehard critic of this show and I openly love it and the characters. So, I've really been enjoying this season a lot. I feel like there is real momentum building, something TPTB failed to follow through with in the end of S6 and parts of S5.

Thanks for the recap! It's refreshing to hear from someone who seems so unbiased.

My favorite characters have always been Martha, Jonathan, Lionel, and Lois. So now, with only Lionel and Lois left, it's good to hear those characters are getting good material. And I liked Lex a lot more before he got all tangled up with Lana. They're not still together, are they? I look forward to seeing Lex sort of realize his destiny a little more, in terms of what we know of him in the mythos.

I really like Chloe also, and started liking her a lot more when she started dating Jimmy (and therefore stopped being not-so-secretly in love with Clark).

That's true about S6 and S5. During those seasons, I always felt like good stuff was about to happen, and then it just never would, which I've always felt was one of the show's biggest problems. It seems TPTB like to set things up (even when it's just little things) and just never follow through.

Mr was sooooo fantastic. Despite dragging him through some really stupid stories last season, he totally owned this episode and brought everything in the series about his character into a nice tight ball of win. The Clark and Lex stuff just totally blew me away.

It's definitely a stunning episode. Smallville always like to pull out surprises like that.
