I can't be silent on this one.
This started over at
nialla42's journal. The discussion revolves around a writer who is looking to published Stargate related materials and a sequel to Harry Potter. She has an interview at The SciFi World.
She is writing a new Stargate series called Andromeda Gate: New Beginnings.
She has written other books in the past, and you have GOT to love the reviewer of this book.
You have to read it to believe it.
Then,
stargazercmc did some digging and found out that the same person was posing as a US soldier stationed in Iraq. Someone who had "adopted" her to send her goods got suspicious and uncovered the scam.
You can read more at
stargazercmc's LJ here. And you can read the care package volunteer's investigation here.
No words.
ETA: The interview has been pulled for further investigation. Caps of the interview are in the works.
ETA2:
zats_clear has the text from the interview Pt 1 here, Pt 2 here, Pt 3 here. Still waiting to see if we can get actual caps :)
ETA3:
stargazercmc has caps up, now. Just click on her link above and you can see them. Also, we don't know the whole story, so please respect the webmaster. I'd hate to see anyone legit get dragged down in this. Thanks :)

And I was going to tell you that the interview was pulled from Gateworld, but you already knew that. I hope they check their resources the next time.

"DrymWyver" is a published author of 47 books, of which 8 are Science Fiction. She has written an original Science Fiction series called Martian Conspiracies. Those came out eight years ago and were published by Rowepublishing. Her next Scifi series were V-The Next Wave. And coming up are the Andromeda Gate series. She also has another new scifi book coming out next year called Time Leap and she has written the sequel to Harry Potter called Hogwarts. Those also come out next year.
She has been writing books for 15 years. She started out writing Romance and Comedy. From there she branched out to Crime Thrillers and do at least one a year. But the real love of her life is Science Fiction and Fantasy. She is a member of the WGA which is the Writers Guild of America and also a life member of SWGA - American Script Writers Guild. Her Crime Thrillers have already been accepted as a new TV series recently. It's not Scifi but it's a start in the right direction.
She usually puts her books out via Lulu.com, however this year she has a new publisher, Authorhouse. And she is also adding them to Amazon.com and Google Publishing as well.
"The new series of Andromeda Gate chronicles the journeys of SGA1, the new Andromeda team of Stargate Command, as they explore the galaxy and thwart the Saggi (a new powerfull ennemy) when they can. The Commanding Officer of the Andromeda is Colonel Roberts, Stargate Command's first To'Kra Commander. To explore new civilizations and old, these are the continuing adventures of Starcity Andromeda."
Gilles Nuytens: How did you get the idea to create the online RPG "Stargate Andromeda" on which "Andromeda Gate" is based?
DrymWyver: I have been a die-hard Stargate fan since the first movie came out and for awhile debated whether or not to start a sim group based on an alternate team. I put the idea to several friends and in 2005 we founded Stargate Andromeda. There were a lot of Stargate fans by then and it was just simple to advertise the game and get the players to come create a believable character for the game. I had to do a lot of research however and I am always checking to see what new technology is available in weapons. I have access to military technologies and use that information to make our storylines more believable. I have also created new species and new worlds and new ideas. Also a lot of the writers myself included are Star Trek fans as well and threads of conversations are references from the series.
Gilles Nuytens: And what motivated you to create a novel based on this online RPG?
DrymWyver: I am not new to creating novels based on online RPG's. I brought out the next V series called V-The Next Wave. If fans remember the original series was created by kenneth Johnson for a mini-TV series called V. I am still a fan and have exchanged emails with him personally. In march of this year he brought out his version of the Next Generation of V. But my book series had already pre-dated his by 5 years. I continued the adventures in true format, whereas he changed his book totally. That was my first foray into writing online novel RPG's. Nobody has ever done one before either. So it is kind of cool to be a first. My motivations for putting out Andromeda Gate is that we have a great storyline - it still fits inside the Stargate Universe, even though the stories are ours.
Gilles Nuytens: Have you received any feedbacks from the Stargate creators team, such Robert Cooper, Brad Wright, ... ?
DrymWyver: I wrote letters to all the stargate creators and producers and to date only received one email back and that was from MGM saying "Good luck". The book has been a year in the making and to receive no reply is daunting. However since MGM is sole mandate for the entire series, they have been given huge acknowledgements inside the book. I have also created a Producer series at the back of the book explaining how the Stargate series were created, produced and the plot lines, acknowledging the writers and the producers in the process. It's technical information for the readers who do not know what Stargate is about. And it's also an almanac for those who do.

Date: 2007-12-03 12:17 am (UTC)Part 2
Date: 2007-12-03 12:14 am (UTC)DrymWyver: The Saggi are non-corporeal beings who harvest humanoids not for food but as working body-parts and incubators. They in effect "steal" humanoids and use them to pro-create their species. Their agenda is unknown. Those who resist, get harvested whether they like it or not, after which they are then terminated. Those who do not resist, are freed when the Saggi are done with them. In order for them to go from planet to planet they have to be in humanoid form.
Gilles Nuytens: As for now, how many books of this series do you plan to write?
DrymWyver: I have already written 5, and edited 2 of them. The first book is called "New Beginnings" and should be out this week. I plan to write for as long as I have readers.
Gilles Nuytens: Where do you find your inspiration source to write stories?
DrymWyver: I find my inspiration to write from watching interractions of people in general and things that happen around me. I also take a small notepad everywhere I go and jot down ideas I come up with. Then I write them out and keep editing them until I find something that works. I have this need to make the storyline as believable as possible within the frame work of the particular story I am working on. Technology today is far in advance then it was 60 or so years ago. At that time the writers were really unrealistic about what they perceived the future to be. I believe that some technology will change over the next hundred years, but how people perceive their lives and conditions will remain relatively the same as it is now. I don't believe we humanoids per se, will all be flying around in space ships to and from work. Maybe in a thousand years, but not in the near future. It's the same with writing Stargate, the future technical aspects of Stargate is relatively simple. The concept of Gate technology is wonderful. Yet when one steps through the gate, you never know if the technology is going to be better or worse. It's like everyday life. Some people are poor and some people are rich. You never know when you get born-what kind of life you will have. When you open that door and step through it, your life is your destiny for richer or poorer.
Gilles Nuytens: Can you give some information about the story of the second book "Solaris and Beyond"?
DrymWyver: Solaris and Beyond is based on the possibility of a ripple in time. What would happen if a time ripple drew the crew someplace else. I know Star trek has kind of beaten the subject to death almost, and some of the Stargate SG1 series have touched the surface, but I am taking them one step beyond that. Where the crew of the Andromeda have no choice, but to follow through with the problems and what they encounter inside it.
Gilles Nuytens: What attracted you the most in Stargate?
DrymWyver: The possibility of new worlds to discover beyond the event horizon. I would love to have my own Stargate and travel to far off worlds and see things no one has ever seen before. If anyone ever finds a real Stargate, I want to be first in line. I am an explorer at heart. My expertise in reality is Archaeology. That's what I have a degree in.
Gilles Nuytens: You were a real soldier at one time, do you use your own personal experience in this book?
DrymWyver: Yes. A lot of my experiences in the military are used in the storylines for the book. In actual fact a large percentage of the group in the online game are military folk and Vets from various wars. They bring added reality to the game itself. We know what to expect and when to expect it. That's what makes the game great. It will hopefully allow our readers to feel like they are part of the storyline as they read them. We give visualizations on the written word.
Part 3 - and I will not be hurt if you remove this if you get a capped copy of the interview
Date: 2007-12-03 12:15 am (UTC)DrymWyver: The first books' cover was created by one of the co-authors, Robyn Kekoa. She is, like you and several of your artists, exceptionally talented. All I can say about the book is that I enjoyed putting it together and I hope you all enjoy reading it.
Gilles Nuytens: How did you get the approval for "Hogwarts", and could you give us an idea of what we can expect?
DrymWyver: Writing the sequel to Harry Potter was a little unusual because JK Rowling in effect had it down in writing that she was not going to write any more Harry Potter books. She left open the idea that there could be sequels at some time in the future. I decided that the books needed more in-depth information. So began writing about the school and its other students. It sort of expanded from there until I had enough material to write 5 books. I did some research and found that Ms Rowling has copyright on Harry Potter and the books she wrote. However anything after that she has to apply for a new copyright. I decided to apply to the WGA first. They informed me that as long as I recognize that JK Rowling is the original author - I can write the sequel.
The new books "Hogwarts" goes into the background of Hogwarts and some of its earlier students and their teachers. How Hogwarts came about in effect and why.

Date: 2007-12-03 11:15 pm (UTC)the 10th March;
My unit look for explosives and destroy them; and
tins of International coffee
are just what I caught on a cursory glance.
For anyone wanting to impersonate a U.S. citizen in the future, those should be "March 10(th)" (or "the 10th of March"), "looks . . . destroys," and "cans of . . . ."
I'm unsure about "Coffee sachets," though; not being a coffee drinker myself. I suspect that a US citizen would call them "bags." "Packets," perhaps. But definitely not "sachets."
