I know I've been a little quiet for the past few days. I've had a lot of my mind, both fannishly and in real life. And despite my fandom epiphany the other day, I'm sort of feeling very alone in the fandom (and in real life).

But that's a different story for another day.

Though, just because I am feeling a little curious today, I thought I would ask my flist some fannish questions. I tend to have various personas or reputations, it seems. So I wonder, what kind of fan do you see me as? When you think of SG-1 what character do you associate me with? This doesn't mean the way I see myself or the way you think I see myself. Maybe I'm a closet Martouf fan and never knew, but you've seen it all along.

And don't be afraid to give your opinion. There is no right or wrong answer and I won't be offended. Feel free to do the same on your journals as well.

We all see ourselves a certain way, but I was wondering, how do you see me?

[Poll #965472]

I'll tell you what kind of fan I think I am later. I'm curious to see how right (or wrong) I might be ;)

The poll doesn't really fit my answer. I see you as one of the rare, all-around fans. There doesn't seem to be a character or pairing that you're not willing to try writing and otherwise enjoy!

Heh heh. I didn't want cheaters to go on a clicking spree so I had to narrow it down. In fact, the more options I gave the more likely I would have clicked them myself. ;)

So how are you these days? Don't see much of you. I'm well enough. Still plugging away at my original writing.

I'm fine! Nothing exciting/interesting to post about. I guess I could do another ferret-spam post. *g* I'm taking an insane number of pictures of these guys.

Oh geez. That was a little harder than I thought. I thought of you as a classic team kinda person. Of course, I wonder if I've read all your fic.

I was going to write something profound, but my brain just died! Gah. I need food.

Food good. ;)

It is hard. I know some people are die hard kinds of fans where the first thing you think of when you see them is Sam/Jack! Or Teal'c! So I was just curious.

Your first poll is missing the option: "Primarily a Team Fan." ;-)

Heh, yes. I did that on purpose ;)

It's funny I've been around fandom for a looong time, although mostly lurking. I seem to remember you mainly as a Jack/Daniel fan from way back, but ever since I got to know you a bit better over LJ, I don't think that applies anymore. Personally I think you're one of the rare people that don't prejudice against any pairing or character.

Aw, less lurking. More participation! Where did know of my leanings before LJ?

I've gone through many phases throughout my fandom career. When I first joined in, I was Daniel crazed, but not to the point of hating any character. And I loved the Jack and Daniel friendship. I admit not to watching any eps that didn't have Daniel, though. But even with my Daniel love, I was hardcore team. I enjoyed the eps where everyone had something to do over the character-centric eps. I probably liked Teal'c the least :(

But over time, it changed and I started getting just as nuts for the other characters. I especially went Dark Side when RDA left the show and I've been fangirling Jack ever since. So, I tend to fangirl Daniel and Jack a little more, but Sam and Tel'c are right up there. And I don't hate Jonas or Vala or Cameron. Miss Hammond and Janet. *sniff*

And that is very kind. I used to be very anti-Sam/Jack and Daniel/Vala but I've since eased up. Fandom is for people to have fun. Everyone has their own thing :)

I've done something of the same. By the time RDA left, Jack was so far into Stupid!Jack characterization that I felt a sense of relief. His absence has allowed me to concentrate on the Jack whom I first met, the one I fell in love with, and now I'm seriously fangirling him again.

I'm still allergic to Sam/Jack on my television screen, though. ;-)

I wish I could say the same. All through S8, I was fine with Jack. In fact, I *really* enjoyed General Jack. My beef with S8 is that Jack really should have been used in a Hammond capacity -- SG-1 should have been going out on missions and Jack doing the base thing even if he didn't like it. If they hadn't killed off Janet, he would have had someone to interact with while Sam's SG-1 did their thing. But since they'd killed Janet, Jack didn't have anyone to really interact with and we were forced to see SG-1 grounded to the base which didn't wok out well.

It was S7 Jack that I wasn't fond of. He really rubbed me the wrong way most of the time. I think it was a combination of RDA's restricted time, his lack of anythign really exciting to do (he looked bored), and the writing staff's inability to write his reduced time in a convincing way. Poor, poor S7 Jack.

But it's not just lack of Jack that gets me going. I was devastated to hear AT would be out of the first five eps of S9. CJ seems to have the best record, having been in everything to date, but if he were to vanish, I would pout too. God knows how poorly I would have taken S6 if I had been watching the show at the time of MS' departure.

I still miss Hammond :(

You know I can't really remember. Probably either GW or through the period of that oh so wonderful fandom_wank when MS left the show in s6. I'm not really a shipper myself, but I have a few close friends that are die-hard shippers and I used to spend a lot of time reading boards and yahoo lists, so that's probably where I came across your name.

I'm an RDA fangirl more than anything. I love the guy to pieces, he's just so damn fascinating. And with him I fell in love with Jack, who's another fascinating and contradicting character. I lost interest in the show during s7 when we got less Jack and IMO weaker episodes. I still hung around though because I met many wonderful people online. I watched some of s9 and 10, but really much more as a casual viewer and I wasn't really impressed. I really love LJ though, you can hang out with the people you like and stay away from the crazier fans.

Ah. Hmm. I hang out once in a while over at GW, but not much. I came into the fandom after the wank of S6, Thank God. But I used to hang out on various boards and lists and such.

It's understandable if the show doesn't draw your interest anymore. I adore the classic team, but I gravitate to Jack and Daniel mostly. I'm still interested in other aspects, but I threw a hissy fit when I heard RDA was leaving, even if I respected his reasons why. I probably would have thrown a hissy fit back in S6 if I had been in fandom or watching the show at that time. It took me a long enough to even watch S6. But I've been watching S6 to get my quota of Jack during S9 and S10 ;)

I've also recently discovered MacGyver which is my guilty pleasure. That helps me get through the Jack-less seasons.

RDA has a charisma that intrigues me.

I agree about LJ, though. It's such a wamr place full of diversity. It has it's moments of descent, but I've been lucky to be able to meet and had lovely conversations with the folks of LJ. I love it :)

Hmmm, really? Now I'm curious from where I knew your nickname. But yes, you so didn't miss anything during s6. ;)

I liked the Daniel from the earlier seasons a lot and I loved their dynamic in a purely friendship sort of way, but I'm not to fond of macho!Jackson. That's just my opinion though.

I love MacGyver... I grew up with that show and it's so cheesy it's actually fun to watch. :)

I can't really answer the poll.

For the first question, you've stated in the past that you identified with Daniel quite a bit because of the type of character he is (personality and sensibilities) and also because he loves many of the things that you love in real life, but I have always thought that you love all the characters. That's the impression you have always given in your posts. I think you could probably feel at home at any character-loving forum, except in the threads where everyone was hating on a different character. *g*

When it comes to ship and slash, my impression is that you are not a shipper or a slasher, really. (There's more on this below.)

For the last question, I think you like the classic team, but you are welcoming and open to changes, even if they don't totally work for you.

Above all, I think that you have a very strong sense of fairness and you want all the characters, pairings, and all variations of the team to receive love and attention--as well as the fans of the various characters, parings, and team variations. My impression is that you really hate to see any type of injustice or inequity, and this is more important to you than any particular character or pairing.

How'd I do? *g*

Aw, that was a very nice post. I wish I was that fair and loving ;) I do have a secret mean dark side that I don't allow to come out to play much in public. (Some particular fans just irk me with their elitism and sense of entitlement.)But for the most part, I try to be like you stated.

I see you as an 'all rounder' someone who writes and reads fic that is about the story, or the team dynamic. More of a gen person. Not that you wouldn't dabble in ship fic of course :D You're a multishipper (yay!) and so don't tie yourself into seeing the team in only one way.

That's what I always hope for, so yay! I like to consider myself an idea person. A story with a truly great idea at its core can come in many forms. Usually, for me, it's a form of gen, but it might be ship.

I was thrown a bit by the character specific leanings. :) I always see you as an all around team fan, you aren't into the show for just one person even though I've read your claim (and it fits interested) that you identify with Daniel. But you're one of those who's into the show for the whole team not just one person. :)

Heh heh. Yeah, I skipped team on purpose. I know in some circles I am known as one kind of fan and others as something different. Though, most of you have been around so long you know all my deep dark secrets ;)
