-------------------------
There had been no end.
He had kept chasing her. No rest. No reprieve. The Super Soldier's pursuit had been relentless.
She hadn't known if she would survive. She just knew that she had to keep going. She had to keep pressing forward. In the end, she knew that he would be there. He would be waiting for her.
And then it happened. Just when she thought she couldn't run anymore, it was over.
Sam exhaled, releasing some of the pain. As her adrenaline waned and reality set in, she felt the fear, the hurt, the shock take over.
But then there was the warmth of his touch, the comfort of his presence as he let her rest beside him. He held her – there, unshamed, in the open – making her feel real, protected, secure. He was her rock.
"It's okay," he said, whispering to her. "It's over now."
It was over. And she didn't have to run anymore.
Neither of them had to run anymore.

Date: 2007-04-11 01:02 am (UTC)I think is exactly it. What we write is not necessarily a reflection of who we are. Are we part of our writing? Absolutely. But just because I want to explore Sam/Pete in fic doesn't mean I wanted Sam/Pete to actually happen on the show. In fact, while I liked Pete, I don't think he was right for Sam. At least not THAT Sam. I thought it was a bad idea to bring him on since we all knew it wouldn't last anyway. I found it as a way to toy with fans but that's a different story altogether...sort of like how they brought in Diana on the X-Files.
Anywho...I've never minded hints of affection between characters on SG-1. Sam/Jack included. Daniel/Vala included. and all i really want are scenes that show how much Sam and Daniel care for each other. It doesn't have to be "shippy." That's not the point. We all see what we want to see anyway. But like you, I don't ever want it actually realized on screen nor do I ever want it to over power the story. But that's me :)
