You know, I wasn't so interested in AT's new series when I heard about it. I just shrugged my shoulders and moved on. As much as I like all the actors on SG-1, I watch for the characters, not the actors.

But I checked out the website a couple of weeks ago and thought, hmm, maybe not so bad. And then they just recently released the teaser online with music and wow. First of all, I am in love with the music. I want the music. Second, it actually looks pretty good. It's web-based, so I'm skeptical, but I love anything that has to do with science, myth/history, or the supernatural. That is what I've always loved. That is what I write. That is why I am drawn to shows like XF and SG-1, Smallville, and movies like Star Wars.

So, I'm game to give it a try. The website is: www.sanctuaryforall.com

I am currently at the "intrigued" stage...but I haven't been able to make the teaser work yet. I am glad that Sci-Fi is breaking away from its usual "Only For Americans!" policy.

It's a web-only project, not one tied to a broadcast or cable network in the US. They want to get as many people watching as possible, and don't have the network concerns regarding licensing for foreign markets.

Teaser won't work? My computer is on the older side, so I'm surprised I had no problem. But if you do get to see the teaser, it's very nice.

There's also a blog and there's an LJ feed for it now. The link's in my LJ.

I'm in the "maybe" camp, mostly because I could never get the trailer to work on my computer, so that doesn't bode well, but they do seem to be OK with episodes being downloaded and traded.

Your post this morning about the LJ feed reminded me I wanted to go back to the site and check out if anything had happened. Really, before today I wasn't really interested. I was just sort of "wait to see what my flist thinks" and move on.

But I was really impressed by the music and the teaser. The webisodes could be totally different and I'll end up hating it. But we'll see.

Yeah, because I've lost count of how many movie trailers I've liked, especially the music, and of course it's nothing like what the final product will be. But as you say, we'll see.

I've watched the trailer, and I'm very interested to see where they go with this. I just wish they'd give us an air date for the first webisode so we'd have something definite to look forward to. This nebulous..."It's coming," thing is driving me nuts.

Ugh. I know. I mean, just give us a vague date or something. If they want us to watch, they really need to inform us ahead of time.

I think it's a fascinating experiment on new ways to produce and market media. And could be a fun storyline - they certainly have good creative talent working on it.

Someday, I can see this as a viable way of producing a new genre of media. Video games have already been merging cinema and gaming for a long time. It's only natural we'd see something like thsi crop up. And it's an exciting form indeed.

I'm lookign forward to seeing where it goes :)

Initially I was only a little intrigued, mostly because of the new distribution format. However, for myself, it won't be much of a change, since I already watch my TV on my computer (a TV in card) and use my comp as my PVR and DVD player. The best part would be the lack of delay for international viewing.

However, now that I've heard the premise, I'm excited. After all, regardless of format, the most important part is a good story. And it sounds like story could definitely be interesting.

It does sound interesting. I don't know much about the cast, so I hope they have good chemistry. And yes, as long as the story is good, I think it will be an exciting foray into this type of media.

I'll probably watch it to see how it goes - it can't be any less inspiring than Dresden files right now (and I *like* the DF).

But I'll admit: part of my curiousity is to see if AT can indeed, really act.

How is that show going by the way? I don't watch it, so I'm curious.

My interest has gone up quite a bit in Sanctuary as of today. Whether the cast has good chemistry, the plot comes together, and it works -- that all remains to be seen. But I am excited about where it could go and I will check it out once it airs.

I had pretty much the same reaction. They put nothing on the website and the little that was said about it in interviews didn't sound appealing, but then I read more details about the premise of the show, and I thought it actually sounded kind of cool. I'd have checked it out regardless, because I couldn't not, but it could end up being somewhat cool.
