Okay, here are my thoughts on the season three premier

I have to admit that I am disappointed. I don't know. I'd put off watching this episode for a while because I knew something was going to happen, but I still thought this episode would have more impact than it did. I mean, I simply loved the finale. I really did. I loved the pain and the helpless John was feeling as he lay without speech, his mind in shambles, Aeryn gone. But with Season of Death, it took forever for the storyline to actually get moving. I didn't feel like we got anywhere until Zhaan, D'Argo, and Stark made it to John to help him. It got better there.

The highlight had to be the Zhaan and Aeryn moment. The music was right and the acting was right. It was the best moment of the episode imo. I think both actresses played it well. And I thought that Stark was well played in this episode as well.

However, after the moment with Zhaan and Aeryn, I felt like the rest of the episode was anticlimatic. The fight with Scaryn. The battle in space. Meh. They were okay.

And Chiana, Rygel, and Jothee were boring.

The end was okay. Again, for me, still anticlimatic. Zhaan is dying. Aeryn says no to John (again). I just found the whole episode so disappointing in light of how good the end of Season 2 was. The best part was Zhaan and Aeryn, but...it wasn't enough to make the episode for me.

Still, it was better than most episodes I've seen. And theme song is better. Not so many dying ewoks wailing in it. I hope that the next episode is better.

Oh, yeah, SOD itself isn't nearly as good as an episode as DMD. But then again, DMD is an exceptionally good episode. I'm afraid the next episode, "Suns and Lovers," isn't the strongest, but I'm tempted to say that there isn't a bad episode in season 3, period. And there are lots of utterly amazing episodes--though more toward the middle and end of the season.

The big highlight of SOD for me is the fact that that kiss at the end is possibly one of the hottest things I've ever seen. Heh. ;)

it was such a bummer :( Die Me Dicotomy was so good with plenty of momentum. And that just didn't happen in this episode. I felt like it just coasted along for a while, then got really good, and then sort of drifted again. It's hard for me to explain. I just expected more.

And now I'm hearing that the next episode is kind of so-so. Maybe if I keep my expectations low enough, I'll enjoy it. Heck, it works with Sg-1 these days LOL

There's a certain point, I think, (and for me it starts toward the end of season 2, but it definitely kicks in by early-to-mid season 3) at which it stops being for me a matter of how good individual episodes are. I lose myself in the whole arc of season 3.

But that said, it's probably a good idea not to have super-high expectations for SAL. It's entertaining enough, but it's nothing brilliant.

I like the dying wailing ewoks. To the point of missing them. A lot. And watching just the credits of season one episodes just to hear them.

The narration is much better though.

Just...make it through Suns and Lovers, and you'll be okay.

*loves Farscape*

It feels strange to be ahead of someone....

Heh. I've had the episodes for a while. I have all except 2/3 of Season 4 and The Peacekeeper Wars. I've held off on watching them because I can't seem to watch SG-1 and Farscape at the same time. My brain has issues.

But yeah, I didn't like the alien wailing in the original theme song. I liked the beat but that noise drove me insane. This time around it's more subdued, but it does reflect the nature of the show at the time, so it's all good.

Hey:)
Regarding the music played during Aeryn/Zhaan's moment, I read somewhere that it was actually the same song as the one played from Season 2 finale except in a major key, rather than a minor. Also, the lyrics are related to Pie Jesu...I thought that was pretty cool. I agree with you that after that part in season premiere, it was quite anticlimatic.
