I hated it and I went back to the first one. I am still having trouble. Argh!

That's so frustrating...I know how you feel. This morning I scrapped three different half formed ideas that I just couldn't get to go anywhere. But at least I feel really positive about this one, and I was never more than half sure about the others. Not a good sign, huh?

I think my biggest problem is that I worry too much about what the recipient will think. It's someone on my flist, and I had this same problem with the Teal'c fic. I wanted it to be good for minxy because she's always been a supporter of my fic and I wanted something she'd really be happy with.

But it was worse with that one, because I'd never written either of those characters, and Teal'c is so difficult to pin down...I've never had a fic that was so late to a ficathon as that one was. I usually run a day or two late, I'm the eternal procrastinator, it's something I've never been able to fix, no matter how hard I try. But man...that was tough.

My beta has told me I'm not allowed to do any more exchanges - she thinks that's my problem, because I worry too much about what the person getting my fic is going to think, and what *they* want, that I screw up my head. I need to focus on challenges that just give me a prompt and pit me against a time limit. She's right, I do better with those.

Did you ever figure out how old Cassie was? Brain is dead...

Yeah. She's 12 in Season One, and the fic I'm writing is a little more than half way through Season Three. I'm actually going to fudge just a bit, because 15 is kind of old for a girl to want a treehouse. I'm stretching it a bit by making her 14 (and a half - as she reminds everyone) and making it more of a "room of my own" kind of thing. I think it will work. It's gonna have to, huh? I don't have time to come up with another idea!

My friend also forbade me from doing anymore since I have the same problem. I'm a perfectionist and I start to fret.

I had this niggly little feeling that you might be writing for me, but couldn't tell for sure.

Don't stress. I may a self-proclaimed fic snob, but I'm not with ficathon stuff. And I'm easy. If you don't get it done on time, I will not hate you forever and omg defriend you and smear your name all over the fandom.

I'm sure it's fine.

Nah...actually more the other way around. I was trying really hard to make you feel sorry for me, so you wouldn't be mad at me for being late! *g*

It was just really an accident that I was roaming through my flist, taking a break from all the research before I got serious on the fic. I needed some time off, and you just happened to be around to talk to. I was afraid you'd figure out I was writing for you, so I tried to concentrate on Cassie, but I realized later, you would of course figure out that it was Jack and Daniel that would be building the treehouse - 'cause hey, it's a J/D ficathon, isn't it? Duh.

I'd already done my research on you...read all (three!) of your slash fic, and some of your gen, to get an idea of what you liked. I'd read some already, anyway. I wish now I'd followed A Priori while you were writing it, because I waited to read the final version, and now I'm too busy to read a novel. So I had to make do with your smaller fic, instead.

But now that you know, one thing has been bothering me, and I might as well ask you, since it's your fic...do you want lots of sex? Because this fic is more about the romance, but I was going to put a fairly graphic sex scene at the end. But you don't write many pairings, and what you do is usually PG. Would you prefer me to leave it at PG or R? It's your fic, I'll do what you want. I do write mostly explicit sex, but I actually have one PG fic out there, so it's not impossible for me... Your choice.

If you can make it more about romance and not the sex, that's fine. If for whatever reason you can't write it that way, it's okay. As you can see, I am fairly bad at slash writing and don't do it often. (I have a few at my site.) And I don't write tons of het and I don't write NC-17. I've very gen but that is basically because I am a plot/chararcter oriented person. I have a tendancy to write long novels. (Bad me.)

And I know you mosrly write explicit stuff and that is why I haven't read much of your fic, though I've wanted to. I did read your mini!Jack fic the other day though, since I'm a mini!Jack crackhead.

Just take your time. I know things are tough right now so don't worry too much.

Romance it is, then! I should be able to handle that. It was going to be mostly the story of how they got together, anyway. The story is complete without it, it was just my NC-17 gene that was insisting there be a sex scene somewhere. I will ruthlessly squash it...I wrote three PWP's last week for the Porn Battle, I should have gotten my fix for a while anyway, huh?

I'm a Mini!Jack fan myself. I think there's actually going to be a revised version of that fic, and probably more stories as well. It seems I'm not alone in the Clone fan club. *g*

Thanks so much for your understanding. It's actually good for me to work on other things, the problem is getting my focus together. I keep losing track, wanting to call the hospital and find out how she's doing...my concentration keeps slipping. But it's good that I have something to work on.
