moonshayde: (Thumbs Up (Dean))

I've set quite a few lofty goals for this year. I know I have to be practical and realistic, but if I can finally manage my time, this is doable. I know it is.

Writing

Fanfic - By the end of February, I am going to finish my two WIPs - a h/c with Dean and another wing!fic for my Playing the Angel series. Throughout the year I will post more parts of the series.

Original writing - I hit a slump for a while, but the end of last year started to pick up. I sold two short stories to two different anthologies and my short historical came into print. My main genre is contemporary fantasy/some paranormal, so I am aim to breakthrough in one of those categories with a novella at a major pub. I will also revise my novel and submit to agents.

Health

Weight: I am going to lose 10-15 pounds by the beginning of April
Exercise: I am going to have a decent exercise program going for 3 days a week.
Illness: Getting sick really threw my goals out of whack. I am going to take vitamins each day and eat better to see if that keeps major illness away
Doc Appts: I am going to reschedule all the appointments I had to cancel because I was caring for my dog.

I have some other more personal goals to meet as well, but these are the big ones. I've already decided to double my reading, and that is going well too. Yay!

I've been saying it for a while, but I would love to post more and comment more on my LJ. I think it's time for me to seriously start using filters.

Anyway, that's it. Have a great day :)

YAY SHORT STORIES! I AM PROUD OF YOU!

Can you message me the names of the anthologies again? I lost the first one, I think, and even though I can't buy anything right now, I would love to add them to my list for when I get a job again. :)

Best of luck on the novel. I've been querying since October and it is SUPER stressful, but at least I've got the edits of the Dragon Book to distract me. I hope your revisions go well!

Thanks! I was in a slump for so long. It really does make a difference to keep writing and be persistent. I still get rejections on stuff I think is pretty good, but that's life. I have high hopes for my novel, so it's about time I stop procrastinating on that.

And here's hoping to having a better presence around here this year! I miss talking about my shows and hobbies :)

I'm sure querying is hell. I haven't gotten to that point yet. My novel is not ready. It needs a major rewrite and then some edits. I'm hoping to start querying later this year.

Yup, I'll message you the anthology names :)

I've come to understand that short stories just really aren't my thing. I'm better at longer stories. At least I think so. I want to focus more on that in 2012. I'll still keep trying to find homes for more shorter works, though.

Good luck with your own queries and edits!

I definitely prefer long stories! But there are a couple short story submissions I really want to try (one is a Canadian sci-fi anthology, and the other is the small press that requested my MS a couple weeks ago, so I figured they're both "business" decisions). We'll see what happens, but I'm optimistic.

Good luck with everything! I didn't realize you had sold so many of your original works last year!

Both happened in December before everything fell apart and I was still sick, so I didn't really talk about it much.

I'm pressing to enter a pitch for Wed., so I am trying hard to finish my current work for then.

Your personal goals sound great and... reading this is inspiring me to set some realistic but challenging personal goals.

Congratulations on selling your original works!
