Blech. I was given a free sample and oh man. That stuff is...you can taste the sugar. It's liquid sugar. Even more so than soda. It's that they mushed a bunch of candy and liquefied it.

I wasn't about to become a customer for them anyway. I'd rather not get diabetes. But phew. I didn't realize just how sugary it was.

I actually kind of like them mostly because I should probably be on anti-depressants and they're the only thing that actually work like one on me without any crummy side effects. Weird, but true.

In any ingredient list, the higher up (closer to the beginning) an ingredient is, the more of it there is in the product in question. According to this site, after "carbonated water" (the #1 ingredient) is glucose (pure sugar, in other words); after that is citric acid (vitamin C, basically), followed by sucrose (another form of sugar). Two of the top four ingredients are sugar, in other words. If you go down to the nutritional info, it also says that in an 8 oz serving there are 26 grams of sugar. And mind you, further down it says that there are two servings in the container, so if you down the whole can you really have to double that (52 grams of sugar!). There's a lot of vitamin C too, sure, but you can always opt for orange juice if that's what you're after, rather than going for vitamin C mixed with tons of sugar and then carbonated.

I know! Isn't it crazy? Of course, I know how to read a nutritional label and I still tried it anyway. So maybe I'm the crazy one.

I think of all the people that must be drinking this regularly and ouch. There are better ways to get "energy."

ETA: Oh, spelling I give up on you.

I'm glad that it works for you. Though, there must be some other good stuff out there. I just can't think of any at the moment.

I don't even like the taste so...LOL

I don't like them either. My teenager does. Just too sweet.

Eh, I don't drink them often, maybe once every two months generally. I try to do other things to keep my spirits high.

I read that as "I was given a free sample man"... thought that sounded pretty awesome. I mean, very good of them, handing out guys for testing like that. I'd want one too.

Meh, never did like overly sweet stuff. I remember going to carnivals as a kid and we'd get these sugar-water bottles and they made want puke.

Ugh... I hate those, too. It's like you can FEEL your teeth decaying. Bleh.

Really hate those drinks, they hand them out a lot on my campus tho. More than the sugar, I admit to a rampant sweet tooth that seems to not know when too much sweet is exactly "too much sweet", it's the horrible throat burning sensation you get when drinking them that bothers me.

Ug. That reminds me of when the Red Bull people showed up at work. Drinking that stuff was instant headache.

Hahaha! Gross! I switched to coke zero so there's no sugar when I do drink soda, and while I like some sugar, I don't want to get diabetes either!

Oh yeah. Add in the caffeine and those things are REALLY not good for you.

(And I keep seeing the bogun parents round here giving them to their kids! I mean for one thing that's going to be the sugar high from hell, let alone the long term health issues!)

Ah, but you see... there's blue Monster, which has no sugar but all of the caffeine and taurine your poor little heart can stand.

*has a serious Monster addiction going on

Oh is that the difference? A bunch of teens kept telling me the blue one is so much better than the green. So it has not as much sugar but loads up on the caffeine?

(And what is taurine anyway?)

That makes sense.

Oh they creep me right out. I see school age kids with them all the time - I'm talking kids between 11-14 - and I just can't believe they are drinking this stuff. it's bad enough that adults and older teens/college kids drink them, but wow. I can't imagine just how bad they are.

I like Coke Zero, even though I know I shouldn't drink soda period.

But some of the stuff out there really is scary.

t's the horrible throat burning sensation you get when drinking them that bothers me.

What WAS that? I was drinking that one and it burned all the way down. Not even like regular soda can sometimes when the carbonation is really high. It was the freakiest thing.

I'm not surpirsed they had them out on your campus. College campuses seem to be the hot spot to egt people addicted to stuff.

But it's true! It tasted like liquid sugar. More sugary than pixie stix and that is complete sugar.

I don't even know how that is possible!

Massive amounts of caffeine as far as I know. Probably lots of sugar too. It tastes very sweet with a horrible aftertaste.
