The Unpopular One
May. 18th, 2009 07:49 pmWell, I know I am in the minority, but I am going to post a little bit on my stance with Dreamwidth.
I have nothing against the venture and I think it's pretty cool. I heard it has some awesome features. However, I really like my LJ account so I'm not moving over. I don't really want a duplicate account because I'll lose track of things. The only way I could ever see myself moving over to Dreamwidth is if LJ has a complete shutdown. But I'll cross that bridge when I get there. If and when that happens, I might have moved on anyway. I continue to push for professional writing status, and I want to post more and more on that blog. In the future, I know it'll be hard for me to keep up my professional blog and have a extremely active fannish one going. I never plan on abandoning my fannish side so I guess we'll see. I just plan to worry about that when the time comes.
I know that many people on my flist have moved over there, some of which don't post on LJ itself anymore. I wish you luck and I hope we can talk again some day. Other continue to post to both. And I know people have backups over there.
Whatever happens, whether we keep in touch or you move on, it's been lovely knowing you :)

Date: 2009-05-19 12:08 am (UTC)*clings* I'm with you, not following the hype.
I also don't have a dreamwidth account and I won't have one unless LJ has a complete shutdown. I don't feel like updating another journal and I don't see a reason for moving.
I hope my friends stay at lj and won't leave it completely.

Date: 2009-05-19 12:45 am (UTC)Like you I think I'll utilize dreamwidth if LJ completely crashes on us (although I desperately hope it doesn't!).

Date: 2009-05-19 01:04 am (UTC)Me too. :) I'm sure DW is a great service and all, but I don't see myself moving just for the heck of it. I know LJ has its problems, but for me personally other than a bunch of Russian journals friending me I've never had an issue. I'll be sad to see some people move over completely, but I'm 'wasting' enough time online as it is, I don't want to spend twice as much time online to keep up with everyone/everything.

Date: 2009-05-19 04:21 pm (UTC)I've seen people leave LJ for other services, but I've always stuck with LJ. It seems there's more people on LJ, no matter how many leave.

Date: 2009-05-19 05:55 pm (UTC)I'm happy with LJ at the moment. I don't have any reason to go somewhere else. And having two accounts is just too overwhelming to me.
