Yes, yes, YES! My thoughts exactly, right down to the phrase "Freak of the Week"! I'm sorry you didn't enjoy s2 so much--but it's somehow reassuring that you have so many of the same criticisms I did! (Like...all of them, pretty much.)
I thought Alec and Joshua were really the only good things about s2.
