But I don't like AU's
Jan. 3rd, 2009 09:07 amAck, my partly AU wing!fic series that was going to have a few installments and then slink along into the night is now nudging me to go all, out, full-on AU, with massive cast of characters apocalyptic battle to end all battles endings.
Gah. No.
Gah. No.

Date: 2009-01-03 04:24 pm (UTC)Originally, this wing!fic thing was just a cracky idea I thought of to be some humor fic between Dean and Jo. I don't ship in SPN, but if I get an idea I'll go with it.
Then it decided it wanted to have other segments with Dean with wings and I was like, okay. Whatever. I love gen and the brothers anyway so some good fic between Sam and Dean with wings might be fun.
And then it was like, well if you're going to be writing wing!fic with Dean, you have to be fair and give Sam a compelling story as well. So then brain went into this whole parallel between Sam and Dean and than would take MORE fics to cover.
But how can you have wing!fic without angels? So Castiel and Uriel want to play.
And Ruby will need to comment so...
*throws hands up in the air*
So now, my little poke-fun-at Dean wing!fic has morphed into a multipart epic confrontation between Heaven and Hell with a whole slew of characters. I would not even be surprised if John comes back somehow.
The Dean/Jo people might be disappointed because those fics will just be side fics that don't impact the story much for shippers to enjoy and for me to have some fun. The main verse is going to be gen, plotty, angsty, and character-driven.
WHAT HAPPENED? *blinks*
BTW, while I didn't read your large opus - time issues - I did read your short Castiel and Uriel fic. It was awesome and very moving :)

Date: 2009-01-03 04:53 pm (UTC)And yes to the snowballing of ideas and characters! :D This is what comes of thinking. ::sigh:: You realize all the ramifications of what you're planning and how other characters would react given half a chance and wanting to give everyone a chance to weigh in... And this is why my SG1/SPN crossover, which started out with just the joy of Jack and Dean snarking at each other, is now threatening to explode. :)

Date: 2009-01-04 03:35 am (UTC)Actually, I have this aversion to AU's so this is a big deal for me. Do I reign it in or do I go all out? That is the question.

Date: 2009-01-05 12:14 pm (UTC)I am really not a big AU person, so I am all confoozled as to why my brain has decided to go this way.

Date: 2009-01-17 01:52 am (UTC)And yeah, the AU is eating my brain. The next story in the series is shaping up to be almost as gargantuan as the last one - which was only supposed to be 5-10,000 words at the most!
