It's probably the perkiness that puts him off balance. He's such a grouch sometimes (at least he pretends to be)that he doesn't know how to respond to an unfazed cheerfulness. Can you imagine our Jack facing a cherry "Good Morning General!" every morning? LOL! I'd like to hear more about Jack and Bertha. :P
