The following are a few thoughts on tonight's episode of Smallville.



It was an enjoyable episode. I loved the Lois and Clark banter and watching Clark investigate (officially). Lois took that guy's suit! Ha!

But was it me, or was this episode like a massive catering to fans?

There were hints of Clois, Chlark, Chloe/Davis (what are we calling that?), Clark/Tess whatever that is called, Chimmy with Jimmy not even in the episode um...

Anyway, I thought that all was a bit heavy handed, but I'm glad shippers had something to squee about.

Gen fans had a real treat too. Clark was awesome in this episode. OMG, Clark. How can you be cute, heroic, dorky, clueless, and sexy at the same time? Lois was in full reporter mode. Chloe tried so hard and you can't not empathize with her. I fell in love with Davis which makes me feel dirty.

I didn't really like the shots we had with Lois showing she obviously cared more than she should. I don't want to go there yet. I love my Clois, but you all know how much of a traditionalist I am. At least it didn't come off as bad as I thought it would. And she does think she's all that which makes me giggle and squee.

The pacing was a tad slow at times and the story a bit disjointed, but I really enjoyed the episode. More please :)

Yeah, I was most distracted by Lois's wardrobe. "Damn I want that outfit. Damn, that outfit's pretty." (okay, actually I want to look like Erica IN that outfit, but she was rocking the suits).

I was noticing Clark's wardrobe for entirely different reasons. *ahem*

It was a very gen/shippy...more a setup episode. But I liked it. (I missed Ollie though...that seems to be more than made up for next week. Robinson Crusoe Hood, huh? Eh.

I think the new showrunners really have their hearts set on a season 9, and are trying to keep as many fans as possible, particularly now they're lost many Lex and Clana fans. At least that's my cynical interpretation :p They need to keep most of the remaining fans up until sweeps at least if there's any hope of a season 9, so they're just jerking Chlark fans around at this point *sighs*

There was a lot of catering and this one had some great points. Bette, unfortunately, was a bore.

Lots of ships, like you said. I loved the Clois banter and I can really get on board with the Chloe/Davis. They're cute! :D

Clark was so sweet in this one. So Superman-y and I loved how awesome Lois was. Chloe was cute!

Yeah, I know ... you can see already that there are some feelings there and while I think it was cute, I wish they had gone the traditional route too.

I fell for Davis too so you're not alone!

I can't wait for next week!

I thought the chlark moments were really nice, but if it's just a set up to tease fans and keep them watching, then I really don't like that approach. I've had to go through that before with other shows.

I saw the Clark and Chloe stuff as an attempt to build some distance between them. The only problem is that it's not really in character for either of them. I think you can make Clark and Chloe more independent without creating artifical roadbloacks in their friendship. I mean we got some cute and funny moments out of it - like Clark's "I'm getting married?" but overall it left me a little uneasy. I'm a big fan of the Clark and Chloe friendship. I don't want to see it messed around with because they can't do their Clana drama anymore.

They're moving Lois more and more away from her teenage/youn twenties style clothes and into a more professional wardrobe as she becomes more of a reporter and wow. Erica really rocks that kind of wardrobe. I am extremely jealous LOL

And Clark, both in personality and wardrobe was delicious :)

Next week, we get two hotties!
