I am usually a spoiler whore for shows that I love, but I've been staying spoiler free for the big things on shows like Smallville and Torchwood. I don't mind knowing general stuff or small things or casting spoilers or even minor character spoilers, but I don't want to know the big things.
I've mostly been able to do this easily because I'm not in the larger fandoms, but it kind of annoyed me that after the UK airing of one of the Torchwood episodes, a zillion people on my flist posted their reactions outside of a cut. Usually I couldn't consider an episode reaction to be a spoiler, but these were all big and extreme reactions, which I felt was a bit much to post outside of a cut. I had no clue anything really big was happening. Even though I didn't know what it was, it annoyed me a bit, because I think it would have been better if I hadn't been bracing for some sort of shocking big event. *g*
But yeah, I hated being spoiled for that one big event on Smallville, too. I usually know a lot of the small stuff, but that was a pretty big thing to risk spoiling people about. Buddy TV has the first sentence or two of the article in the email and then a link. It would have been easy enough to avoid spoiling people.
