Okay, still not entirely sure how I feel about this one.

I thought the episode was great. It had a point. It was both funny and tragic. These are elements I tend to seek in episodes, movies, and writing. I'm known to write this way myself.

It was a heavy episode. In fact, I would say the last few episodes have been pretty heavy and it takes me a long time to digest them. I'm still digesting them.

It was a Sam-centric episode and one that was a long time coming. I may be a Dean girl, but Sam has been a bit neglected this season, so it was nice to see an important episode that focused on him.

Plus, I got to see Dean whumped so that always is a nice selling point for me ;) I feel bad for laughing so hard though. Heh.

The premise was a very good one. The point is to show Sam that he has to learn to let go. If he doesn't let go, this is what he will become. He'll become obsessed. He'll go OCD. He'll try to control every little aspect in his life and funnel his anger into hunting.

He'll basically become John.

While that makes for a good hunter, that doesn't make for the best person.(And I love John, fyi.) Even worse, he could eventually become like Gordon.

Trickster was right. Sam has issues.

He has to learn that he can't control everything. He has to learn that saving Dean could be a very unhealthy obsession. And when his stubbornness came through, he had to have the Trickster come and spell it out for him.

It's obvious that Dean is Sam's weakness just like Sam is Dean's weakness.

On a side note, I knew Bobby was acting weird, but I got nervous for a second there anyway. I am terrified this show will kill Bobby *clings to him*

I still don't know if any of it (the months after Dean's death) really happened or if it was all in Sam's head. Either way, he's changed by it and this will add some extra baggage as the season progresses.

I'm fine with change. You can't have character growth without change. I know I've said this before and I'll say it again. My biggest concern with this show is that they'll change the characters so much that there will be no "redemption" for them. I'm probably making a big stink for nothing, but I do worry TPTB will do something to both Sam and Dean and won't be able to redeem them. It is a horror show, after all. But maybe I'm just overreacting.

I say fine. Make Sam evil or Dean dead or do something crazy. And while I don't expect them to be the same as when the show started, make them learn and grow and become better people when they get through the darkest hour. That's all I ask ;)

Naturally, I am a hypocrite. I don't apply the same standard to my writing LOL
