They had held each other's hearts, like lovers.

Huddling together on a cold bitter night.
Watching skyward on a warm lazy evening.
Embracing in passion through the beating rain.
Exchanging vows on a cool autumn day.

They had traded words of anger, like lovers.
They had fought and toiled, like lovers.

They had held their son together, like lovers.

These moments – the times of relief that mended his hard, weary soul – were the moments that kept him as one.

But now that Drey'auc was gone, they would whisper no more, like lovers.
