Huh

Ever have a fandom experience that completely just deflates you? That has been me today. Talk about feeling unwelcome. I don't think I want to deal with any fandom for a while. And no, I don't want to talk about it.

In other news, I watched Howl's Moving Castle the other night. I liked it. I felt like it unraveled at the end, but it was still enjoyable. It made for a nice change of pace

*sigh* Back to homework.

*hugs* :(

I watched Howl for the first time recently, too! I got the book on a rec, but I haven't read it yet.

[identity profile] moonshayde.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. Wasn't the movie beautiful? I loved it. I need to read the book. I bet it's 10x better.

[identity profile] jessm78.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, man. Okay, I won't ask what happened. But I will say I totally know how you feel. It's happened to me more times than I can count. I had to take a short break from that particular fandom.

*hugs* Try not to let it get you down too much.

[identity profile] moonshayde.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It happens. I'm just in a bad mood. Fandom is fandom no matter where you go ;)

I'll get over it.

*hugs*

*hugs* don't have to say anything, just know that fandom friends love you.

I saw you did a SPN fic and I can't wait till the move is over to read it. :)

[identity profile] moonshayde.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks *hugs* I know fandom friends are great. I'm just venty.

Sorry hun. *huggles*

Sometimes, sadly, fandom can let you down. All I can say is, when it does, it just generally sucks. *huggles again for good measure*

[identity profile] moonshayde.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
No matter what fandom, you'll always bump into some that sour the experience. It'll be fine. I just needed to vent.

Yeah, I've had some fandom experiences like that - it sucks. *hugs* I hope the rest of your day gets better!

[identity profile] moonshayde.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! It always gets better. I just get annoyed sometimes.

Just hang out with us. Stupid fandom.

Aw, thanks.

Everyone's had that, I think. It bites.

[identity profile] moonshayde.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Some days it bugs me more than others. yesterday just was not a good day for it.

[identity profile] spiletta42.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I definitely know that feeling. Hope you're feeling better.

[identity profile] seacrystal.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Did you watch the Japanese version or the English-dubbed one? I've only watched the original version though, but I totally adore the movie. :D

*hugs*

[identity profile] moonshayde.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw the English version since that was the one they played on Cartoon Network. I really liked it though. So pretty and I love weird whimsical stuff :)

[identity profile] seacrystal.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
That's the one with Christian Bale as Howl, isn't it? When I watched clips and trailers of the English-dubbed version, I just couldn't help but kept picturing Howl as Batman :p

[identity profile] autumndandelion.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Man, I know quite a few people getting bitten by fandom lately. What the hell is going on? I really don't understand how fellow geeks can cause one another such grief. Geeks, of all people, should know how to live harmoniously with one another. Good freaking night!

[identity profile] moonshayde.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
No kidding. But people are always power tripping. Always.

Btw, I hadn't had a chance, but I've noticec much TMNT glee coming from your general direction. I used to be a huge fan of the old 80s/90s cartoon. Good times ;)

[identity profile] autumndandelion.livejournal.com 2008-03-20 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
I was SOO into that cartoon, and now I'm getting into Ninja Turtles again with the comic books too. I don't really know why that fandom has hit me full force again, but I love me some Ninja Turtles!

= D

Yeah, I've dealt with that stuff too. Hey, you want me to go over and kick some butt? I'd be more than happy to. :)

*hugs you*

Heh heh. You can't always avoid the stupid people. We're bound to bump into them eventually ;)

Wanna build a pillow fort? Nice fans only? *hugs*

Howl's - have you read the book? It's, well, completely different. I think the film looks utterly beautiful, but I'm biased towards the book, because I'd already loved it for years before the film came out. It makes more sense, too - some of the stuff Diana Wynne Jones wrote is kind of difficult to convey visually.

[identity profile] moonshayde.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't read the book! But I want to now. I'll probably find it much more satisfying. I felt like the movie was glossing over a lot of material that would probably show up in the book. Books tend to be better anyway.

Just the anime fan in me had to see it because it looked sooo pretty :)

People can be dicks.

That's why you has us!

I loved Howl's Moving Castle (both book and movie versions for different reasons) I was always a bit in love with Howl - hehehe

[identity profile] moonshayde.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
*hugs youse guys*

I want to check out the book. I like anime style anyway, so I've been wanting to see the movie for quite some tie, but after watching it I definitely want to read the book. :)

I've never felt wholly welcome in any fandom, which is why I linger on the fringes now. No way am I jumping into the pool. ;)

*hugs*

[identity profile] moonshayde.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't blame you. Despite my whining, I have no intention of jumping head first into any fandom. I went full out in SG-1 and I'm never doing that again. It's just even on the fringes I can get affected. Bleh.

[identity profile] stacy-l.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I myself find the fringes a much better place to hang out in : )

Take care!

[identity profile] amycooper.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I've had that kind of moment before and it sucks. There's a reason I haven't been to OS in a good long while.

[identity profile] moonshayde.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't been either. I just wasn't getting any enjoyment there anymore. It's too bad because I used to love that place.

I'm happy here on LJ though. It's just sometimes you can't help but bump into people that think they're somethign special.

[identity profile] stacy-l.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't been to OS in a very long time either. Kind of left there ages ago, haven't been back and really haven't had time or a desire to return there either...hmm

Take care!

*hugs tightly*

I'm sorry you had such an experience. : (

*hugs again*
