SGA News
I'm kinda not surprised, actually.
So apparently SGA is getting cancelled. You know, when it first started up I didn't think it would last very long, especially with the casting changes happening early in the series. But then it seemed to be going on pretty strong around S2 and S3 even if I didn't like it. At that point, I figured they were going to press for five season. That seems to be the magic number for tv shows to better syndicate.
I do give the show credit for lasting longer than I intially thought it would, though. And it sounds like they want to do movies, so any SGA fans will at least have that.
Sorry, guys. It always sucks when you shows get cancelled. :(

I wonder if the success of the SG1 movies had anything to do with this, if the suits thought they could make more money with a few movies than they could with another season of the TV show.
...it's very very wrong of me that I'm mostly disappointed that we'll never get to see Cam and/or Vala make a guest spot now, isn't it? ;)

And you know, I probably would have tuned in to see Cam or Vala guest star.

But yeah, the show's ratings are steady from last year, but now with that DVR number, are actually 30% higher, so ratings wise, I don't know what more could've been done.
I really think it was that magic 100 episode number that happens at the end of this season. I think it becomes diminishing returns for a network to continue it after that.

Yeah, 100 episodes is when a show is considered to have a shot at a decent syndication life too, isn't it? Definitely a cold business decision.

Except now Supernatural, of course, but that's okay. :)

SPN is a somewhat new experience for me. I jumped in during the middle to end of S2 and the show ideally is supposed to be five season (if the network survives that long.) So it's a very open canon show but it doesn't have much longer at the same time.

If Rodney McKay hadn't turned into such a break-out character, he would have been gone toot-sweet after the first season, IMO.

But I AM looking forward to Universe. I SO wanna see who they'll cast.

I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did, honestly.

I was never quite as invested in SGA as I was in SG-1 (well, the first 8 or so seasons of SG-1), but I always tuned in and I have the first few seasons on DVD. I grew to enjoy the characters. I hear there is a movie in the works, so I guess that is something. Still am a bit sad we won't get to see Sam and Daniel in Atlantis. :(
I am somewhat curious about Universe. I haven't been following the articles and whatnot on that show much. I just hope they'll be all new characters that I can grow to like as I did those in SGA.
