My Ideal Superman and SV Casting Spoilers
Okay, so I did that Ideal Superman quiz and I got Dean Cain. Interesting. I'd post it, but my computer crashed and I'm too lazy to redo it right now LOL
Also, I'm sure you've all heard but...
Michael Rosenbaum and Kristen Kreuk will not be back as series regulars.

I love Lex. I love him to pieces. I am very sad about this. MR is my fave Lex out of all the Lex Luthors I have watched. For me, SV was all about Clark and Lex and the choices they made. It was a parallel journey. But, both he and KK are looking to negotiate some limited appearances so they'll still be around in some capacity. But I'll still miss him.
I'm sad for KK, but I admit she was my least favorite character. It's not that I hate Lana. I didn't like how prolonged Clana was and I also felt the writers had nothing to give her. As an actress, she must have been frustrated that her character really didn't have much to do. They certainly tried several times, and I appreciated the Small arc in S2. I *like* Lana this season. So it will be sad to see her not as a regular, but at the same time, I hope this gives the writers a chance to write Clark unattached and moving on in his life. Just please don't make her a martyr, PTB.
I assume that everyone else will be back.
We'll see what happens. If handled right, S8 could be pretty good. Maybe Clana can be put behind us, Clark can focus on journalism and his destiny, and we can see more with Lois, Chloe, and Jimmy.

That might actually be a Smallville I could get back into. I've just spent so much time recently trying to figure out how Clark could ever possibly become what he's supposed to be and coming up empty that it's been hard to watch.
I adore Michael Rosenbaum's Lex, so it'll be kind of sad to not see him as much, but maybe the limited appearances will make him even better. Because for me Lex has really seemed a little one-note and kind of vaguely bad, but not really. It'd be kind of nice to see Lex with a real axe to grind and grinding it.
My thoughts on Lana are so complex I haven't even worked through them enough for an actual post, much less a comment, because I think I really don't not-care about her as much as some of my SV posts would make it seem.

I agree that the show really is at its best when it's dealing with Clark and Lex and the paths they have chosen to take. *sigh* Michael is going to be terribly missed.

OMG I feel exactly the same way. And it frustrates me to no end when people go on about how much the hate Lana because it's not even that she's a bad character, it's just that they have nothing to do with her other than keep her with Clark for five thousand years and then everyone gets frustrated with them because they've been together way too long and then people hate Lana. But KK's a pretty good actress (she's not as good as Allison, IMO, but she has been known to kick serious ass from time to time). I wish they had kept going with the badass!Lana they had at the beginning of S7, she was waay more interesting than regular!Lana and people actually liked her for the first time in a long time.

I've always been more of a Chloe girl, no real taste for Lana, so that doesn't disturb me as much as Michael leaving. But, here's to hoping they get back on track, and Clark on track.
I am going to miss what little we'd get of Lex and Clark though. That relationship sold the show for me.

I'm sad for KK,
Did she choose to leave?
I agree with you about Clark and Lex, too, but I kind of knew MR wouldn't be back, because...didn't he say that a long time ago that this would be his last season?
I've never liked the Clana thing, but I never hated it either. It got annoying at certain points, but it didn't ruin the show for me or anything. I've always liked KK and, while Lana was never written well, I also never disliked her. I don't love her, but have a fondness for her, because I like the actress and because Lana is a part of the show. It'll be weird for her not to be there.
As for MR and Lex--that's just a terrible loss, really. I'm not sure what the show can be without them. It could be like Happy Days without Richie or That '70s Show without Eric and Kelso. I hope not. *g*

I am so glad that she won't be back next season. Now maybe they can focus on Lois/Clark and the whole journalism thing along with his Destiny.
