Novella: Frequency

I have a new novella up on my site. This was originally posted in a zine (AG10) and times out this month. It's gen and focuses both on the Jack and Daniel friendship (the highs, the lows, and everything in between) and the team as a whole. I would classify it as having multiple components: drama, action/adventure, mystery, and a twinge of horror.

Title: Frequency
Author: Moonshayde
Season: Three
Category: Drama
Spoilers: The Nox, The Fifth Race, One False Step, Legacy, Fair Game
Pairing/Character: Jack/Daniel friendship, Team
Summary: When an off-world recon mission goes wrong, Jack and Daniel find themselves separated from the team while lost on an alien landscape with one of their own succumbing to an inexplicable attraction to the strange alien life that surrounds them. It's a race against time as they search for Sam and Teal'c, fight against their alien pursuers, and try to unlock the truth over Daniel deteriorating condition before they are all lost to the secrets of the planet.
Warnings: mild language and minor Daniel and Sam whumping
Rating: PG-13

Now off to distract myself some more...

whew! Quite a story. And what an interesting decision on your part: to make it wholly Daniel's POV, so that the reader is just as confused - and "drugged" - as he is.

I especially liked Daniel's fear re Legacy; that must have just happened, since Sha're is still alive. And I loved his determination to understand and communicate, despite what he was suffering.

A long satisfying story when I really didn't have time for it, but read it anyway. And I needed the break. and I really, really liked it. So there. :)

Haven't read it yet, but since I love all your stuff, I'm definitely going to as soon as I finish updating the Novel Archive. :)

And speaking of the archive, you knew this was coming, right? ;) Would you mind if I archive this story there? It's plenty long enough and, the best part, GEN!!! (Yes, adding Gen fics to the archive makes me bounce excitedly. *g*)

(((hugs)))

I think it's true what they say, about people losing at least some interest in their works the more they look at them. That's me rationalising why you might not be digging this fic like you used to.

WOW! Your novella had everything - action, mystery, drama, character development, whumping... I have to admit, I'm a sucker for whumping. You did it really well here. I especially love how you portrayed Jack and Daniel's relationship. It's so easy to have two characters fall into the traditional hurt/comfort mode once you set up that type of scenerio, but you didn't. Jack was his emotionally retentitive, complicated self here. You really showed the complexity of Daniel and Jack's relationship through their behaviour when coping with Daniel's condition.

The Daniel POV throughout the piece really worked. How colourful! = P Seriously, you really brought what he was going through to life. I felt like I was in that technicolour fog with him, trying to figure out what the hell was going on. I loved the twist at the end and the whole subplot with the injured alien and his pad.

This is one of my favourite SG-1 fics. You truly did an incredible job with this novella! LOVED every minute of it!
