I *always* lose interest in my stuff as time goes by. I like to think of it as a writer leaving the honeymoon phase of their writing. This was a zine fic that I wrote a year ago, so it's been a year since I was in the moment. There are a lot of things that I would do differently now; there are some things I wouldn't change. But that is true of just about every writrer and their works, so I know I'm not alone in it ;)
I'm extremely glad that the Jack/Daniel friendship worked for you. My #1 priority here was to buck traditional fanifc hurt/comfort roles and try to show the relatiosnhip as I see it (or part of how I see it) on the show. For me, Daniel and Jack truly care and love each other. SG-1 is like family. But even though they care for each other, they equally get on each other's nerves and antagonize each other. They also have different ways of expressing themselves, and their emotions. Jack is very closed off emotionally while Daniel is more open in some ways. But they both care deeply -- they just have distinct ways of showing it. That sort of thing is important to me. And of course plot is important to me as well. No other pov would have worked but Daniels :)
Thank you very much for reading. I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
