I often feel like a one-trick pony, but I tend to love and write "Dean in trouble" which often translates into Sam saving the day. It's not that I don't love hero!Dean - omg, I do - but I have a lot of fun writing Dean in trouble, sick, or in a bad way, and having Sam jump to the rescue. I particularly have a kink for supernatural things happening to Dean. I do write them both in peril and both heroic, but and minor Dean whumping always seems to win in the end, LOL. Go fig!
I do wonder how I'll end up writing Dean and Jo. If he'll be to the rescue more. if she will. or if it will be even. Dunno.
