I am a very deeply plot and character focused person. As a writer, this is what I gravitate toward. I can't deny that I like romance, though, so in some situations I think romance adds to characters and helps them grow. In fact, in many of my original stories that do have a romantic subplot, it really helps the character grow and discover themselves. It's just one apsect of their characterization.

Maybe that is the key? I don't like characters that just become Love Interests. At the same time, I think you can have characters with that sole purpose, but I can't see them as being main characters.

And yes, you know how I feel about canon LOL
