And yeah, I totally agree that Jack is emotionally cut off. But then again, sex isn't always about emotions

Just like emotions doesn't always equal sex. You wouldn't know it in fandom though ;)

(as we have seen with some various minor characters and OCs, which you find more believable than hooking up with the team probably for the specific reason that Jack doesn't necessarily have a deep emotional investment with them)

It probably has a lot to do with it. Not that I'm fond of characters having flings, but I also know that any relationship outside of the team is likely to be a one shot or a few eps at most so it's not lingering all the time. One of my biggest problems with Sam/Jack and Daniel/Vala is that it often took over. (Daniel/Vala more so than Sam/Jack) and I felt it detracted from the team feeling. Not always, mind you, but I tired of it because I felt that it kept gettign rehashed at times where it didn't feel right.

Personally, I find Jack's mix of desire and emotional unavailability so interesting to write in relationships specifically because of these reasons. (angst, angst, angst)

Which would actually be fine in my book if TPTB would have handled it better. And when fanfic writers can held this expertly, it makes for good fiction.

You know what is awesome about you? You've written this really great meta, you have friends of all camps, you are loudly proud of your own preferences and yet, you have still seriously experimented with writing a variety of things, gen, ship, and slash included. You like what you like because it is your favorite, not because you have refused to even try it. That makes you made of win in my book.

Aw, thanks. I don't know what to really say to that. I'm glad that you think so and you pretty much understand what I'm doing here. I'm often hesitant to post some of my meta because I really don't want to offend my flist but at the same time I really love knowing people from all persuations. it makes my fandom experience richer.

Now, for the serious question: how to you feel about team OT3 and OT4? ;)

*snort* Actually, I've seriously been considering trying OT3. it would be more emotionally based than sexual, but that's me. But I haven't tried it yet and I like to try. And OT4? Isn't that canon? ;)

(Seriously for OT4 - I wish i could buy it but I can't. Not in a big orgy way. But I do believe strongly that especially the 4 original Sg-1 members have bonded so deeply that they have a love for each other that transcends a sexual context.)
