One first thing that struck me about the story was that althought they were in a bad situation, neither man stopped working to get out of it. You didn't have DumbJack or wimpy Daniel.

They were 'out of sync' for a lot of the story, but when Jack started feeling better and regained his 'colonelness' he could begin to dissect Daniel. Somehow the idea that he would tell Daniel of his feelings while talking in his sleep was interesting. Love makes Jack more human.

I loved the last line.
