A beautiful testimony to a realtionship doomed to friendship and unrequited love.

This part of Sam/Jack doesn't bother me as much as some other people. I feel like it's a testimant to how much Sam and Jack put their careers and their duty to protect Earth first ahead of any kind of feelings they desire. It speaks to their strength of character.
