I wrote it when I started mulling over all the crazy in the fandom. I realized what I do in fandom does't have to reflect what I want on the show. Because in fandom we can do whatever we want and that is fun. So why limit myself? It doesn't mean I've "betrayed" myself if I play in different pools. I mean, I adore all the characters. I'll have fun where I want to have fun ;)
That's so completely true. Exactly the right attitude, I completely agree. God knows I've written a ton of pairings I would NEVER want to see on screen. For that matter, this is often where I get in trouble with the hard core S/J folk, because as much as I live for that 'ship, I don't really want to see it fleshed out on screen. The S/J 'shippers were desperately hoping to eventually see the kind of dating/bedroom scenes between Sam and Jack we saw between Sam and Pete, and that whole idea simply horrified me. I mean...just...NO. I want the UST and the hints of maybe something behind the scenes to last forever, but I really don't want to see it in canon.
And the Sam/Pete thing -- I know you know how much I squee over this 'ship.:) I am probably the loudest remaining Sam/Pete 'shipper standing.*g* However, I spent all of Season 8 going "Don't you DARE marry him, don't you DARE marry him...", because I would never have wanted canon to go that way. But in fic, I'm all over it.:)
So, anyway...a lot of babbling to say YES, no one should ever be judged on what they choose to write and how they choose to let their muse explore and play. This is all about having fun, it's not a political war.
