Me too! I think that maybe categories is something that would be more helpful than actual warnings. I know that my favorite fic sites are ones that have categories that are meaningful to me. I prefer the big archives for that reason rather than author's personal sites. Archives are often organized in ways that make sense to me--or once I figure out their organization, I feel comfortable finding my way around. I don't think I have the brain power to figure out every author's personal site and navigate around it.
I also think I have a better chance of finding a story that I'll like once I understand how the stories are categorized and organized. I love Stargate Fan, for instance, but find Area 52 to be a nightmare because of the search system. AllDanielFic is okay because it's all Daniel fic, but even there I tend to end up sticking to authors I know rather than branching out the way I do at Stargate Fan, simply because the organization at Stargate Fan makes sense to me, so I'm more willing to take a chance on an unknown author.
Anyway, I don't really have a problem with how anyone does their own thing--labeling, not labeling, warning, not warning, summarizing, not summarizing... *g* It's all good. When it comes to what I read, though, I tend to want to stick with what I know I'll like, and I'm usually only willing to take a chance if I'm reasonably sure of the category/genre of a fic.
